1. Iguazu Falls
The Iguazu Falls are a group of around 275 waterfalls from the Iguazu River on the border of Argentina and Brazil. With all the small waterfalls combined, the Iguazu Falls create the largest waterfall system in the world! If there’s one waterfall you must visit in South America, Iguazu Falls might be the one. The river converges into a massive, narrow gorge and mists the surrounding jungle, a breath-taking sight to behold. Aside from the gorgeous views, you can go kayaking and boating near the base of the falls. There are also parks where you can see the exotic animals of the Amazon rainforest!

Kaieteur Falls is in Kaieteur National Park of Guyana. It is the world’s largest single-drop waterfall, which is easy to see when you get there! The falls are hidden deep in the untouched Guyana rainforest, filled with exotic creatures such as golden tree frogs and cock-of-the-rocks. Not many tourists visit Guyana in general. With how beautiful the country and waterfall are, it’s only a matter of time before this changes. Make sure you’re ahead of the curve and plan a visit soon!

3. Angel Falls
Salto Angel or Angel Falls is found in Canaima National Park in Venezuela. It’s known as the world’s tallest uninterrupted waterfall, with a height of 979 meters! The magnificence of the waterfall includes the mountain itself. Tepuis are mesas unique to South America that rise over the surrounding land like floating islands. The hike to Angel Falls is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. As you boat through rivers and traverse jungles, you’ll be feeling like an intrepid backpacking adventurer yourself!

4. Salto Hacha
Salto Hacha is in Canaima National Park, similar to the Angel Falls. For those who want a more leisurely trip to Venezuela’s beautiful national park, you can visit Salto Hacha instead of Salto Angel. The falls are much closer to the cozy lodges you can stay at in Canaima and don’t involve a day-long hike. Of all the waterfalls surrounding the Canaima Lagoon, Salto Hacha is one of the most gorgeous. You’ll also be able to climb behind the waterfall’s curtain, giving you a unique view of the Canaima Lagoon!

The hike is relatively easy, which is ideal for less experienced hikers and travelers for some vacation exercise. There are also gorgeous hotels with a direct view of the falls! Along the hike, you’ll be able to see colorful birds and orchids. There’s also an option to ride some donkeys for a portion of the hike. You can also choose whether to hike to either the middle or the bottom of the falls, getting different amazing views!
