Valentine’s Day is a special day to show your appreciation and love for your partner. It is common for couples to spend this day together, doing something they love. While you should always show love to your partner, this is a day where it’s okay to take things a bit further.

However, like just about everything in our lives, Valentine’s Day has been impacted by the recent Covid-19 pandemic. With lockdowns, masking rules and other restrictions in effect, the last while has looked a little bit different. But while your options may be a bit more limited in 2022 , there are still many ways to happily celebrate Valentine’s Day during a pandemic, and this blog post is going to go through a few of them.

Order Your Gifts Online

Getting gifts is a customary part of Valentine’s Day. However, many people are avoiding going to large and busy places like malls due to the pandemic. Thankfully, you can buy your gifts online. For example, you can order flowers online in an instant, and have them arrive incredibly quickly. Flowers are great as they can show your love for another person, but also look and smell great in any space.

While flowers are a great gift and are incredibly popular for a reason, there may be more that you want to get your special someone, too. Be sure to check out this gift guide for other great Valentine’s Day gift options. There is no shortage of things you can give to put a smile on your partner’s face.

No matter what sort of gift you want to give, there is a good chance you will be able to find it online, and get it delivered quickly. Of course, don’t wait until the last minute, as shipping times are only estimates and delays do happen. Also, things could sell out if you wait too long, so be careful.

Go to the Spa

The recent pandemic has led to a lot of stress for individuals, so why not celebrate with a couples massage or other spa service? You can give this to someone as a gift, or even have it be your date for the day. Many spas will accommodate couples and can do anything from massages, to facials, to manicures, pedicures and several other services.

This can be a great stress relief and you can be sure your partner will leave the service relaxed and grateful for the gift. Of course, be sure the spa is abiding by all health protocols and provides a safe environment. If you want to do this on Valentine’s Day, many spas will see their spots booked up quickly, so think ahead if this is an option you want to go with.

Order in Some Food or Cook a Meal

Another important part of many Valentine’s Day dates is eating some delicious food. While couples would traditionally go out for dinner, the pandemic has made that a less appealing option for many people. Instead, why not stay home and eat instead?

This can be done a couple of ways. First of all, you can simply order some food from your favorite restaurant and diner and have a nice and relaxing dinner. Or, if you want to take things a step further, you could even cook a nice meal together. Not only will it be delicious, but this could be a fun activity to do together.

If you want to surprise your significant other, you could even cook them their favorite meal for Valentine’s Day, if you’re up for it.

Take an Online Class

A common date idea for Valentine’s Day is to go out and take a fun class together. This could be cooking, mixology, pottery, dance or anything else you guys are interested in. However, many of these in-person events were cancelled due to the pandemic.

But thankfully, many of the same types of classes can be found and taken online. Some may be free, and others may come with a fee, so do your research. Also, many may fill up fast (especially ones on or around Valentine’s Day) so get in early, if at all possible.

If there are none you can find or want to try, YouTube has several DIY crafting, art, or cooking tutorials that you can do with your loved one to bond and have a great time.

Watch Some Romantic Movies

Seeing a romantic flick in the theater was another common way to spend Valentine’s Day. While you can still go to the theater in many areas, you may prefer to watch a movie at home, instead. There are many ways to watch, whether you have a streaming service, watching a romantic movie on cable, or even buy one to watch for the occasion.

You could even turn it into a movie marathon if you have the time. This is a fun and low-key idea that is equal parts affordable and relaxing. This idea can also be paired with the food idea from above, as nothing pairs as well with a great movie like some delicious food.

Get Out into the Great Outdoors

Just because there is a pandemic doesn’t mean you need to stay inside on Valentine’s Day. Depending on where you are, there may be plenty of outdoor things to do and see for fun instead. You could go for a walk, go cross-country skiing, go sledding, build a snowman and do many other things for fun.

Of course, do this in a way that is safe and preferably away from other people unless you have masks on. Also, if you are in a colder northern climate, make sure you bundle up and have enough gear to keep you warm if it is a chilly day outside.

In conclusion, any of these are great ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day during the pandemic while staying safe and still having a great time.
