Someone who has limited use of all of their limbs, or have be missing one or more of them, might find that many things that others take for granted around the house have become a real stressor for them. Whether you lost a limb or have limited mobility after suffering from a stroke, you will want to take a few moments to review the following advice regarding some of the things that you can add to your home to make life easier on yourself.

Call For A Home Elevator To Be Installed

While there are still plenty of traditional stair lifts on the market, you might want to consider something a little more advanced such as an EasyClimber home elevator. This is especially true for anyone that is bound to a wheelchair for the majority of their day. With a standard stair lift, you will have to get out of the wheelchair and into the lift, which can be hard to do without risking injury. Then, you will need to have a spare wheelchair upstairs waiting for you in just the right position so you can transfer yourself from the lift and into the chair. Wouldn’t it just be a lot easier to wheel yourself into the elevator and wheel yourself off of the elevator once you have arrived on the floor of the house you want to be on? This would be the less stressful and much safer option for you.

Install Special Tubs And Toilets

After suffering a stroke, you are already going to be going through a lot. You will have a lot of stress that you will need to work to limit so you are not making the situation worse for yourself. One good way to do this is to hire someone to installed a walk-in bathtub and shower and a handicap toilet with the proper side handles to help you keep your balance. While there is a chance that you may still require a little bit of assistance, it will be a much easier process for you to bathe and use the toilet properly. Just changing that small part of your day for the better for yourself can really do wonders when it comes to lifting your spirits.

Interior And Exterior Ramps

It is important to make sure that you are hiring someone to install handicap accessible ramps for all of the stairs that lead up to your front door. However, you might want to also have the contractor install small ramps if you have places in your home where there is a single step up or down to enter various rooms. Even though it might not seem like a lot, a single step can completely prevent someone who is in a wheelchair from accessing many parts of his or her home. You will want to make sure that you are hiring someone for the job who has experience and who will have a great deal of knowledge regarding the types of ramps and the specifications that they have to be.

As you can see, there are a lot of things that you might need to change in and around the house. Will it be a lot of work? It might be, especially depending on the structure of your home to begin with. The thing is though, if you are going to be without full mobility for the rest of your life or at least a long time, you will find that the effort you put into this will be more than worth it. You will be able to get around your entire house with ease, just as you used to do before you found yourself in a position of not having full use of all of your limbs.
