Springtime is here and what better way to spend time outdoors then to visit a nice park so that the kids can play. Let go of all those electronics, get off the grid for today and pack a nice lunch, bring a few toys and find your nearby park to have some outdoor fun.

It’s so hard to pull kids away from technology but we need to do so. Kids spend far too much time in front of TV, game systems and other computer gadgets. One thing I will say is I make sure my kids spend their fair share of time outdoors as soon as the weather breaks and to be honest we even go out in the winter to play.

But taking time to visit a park is far more fun, the kids can play, play, play until their little hearts are too tired to stand plus it’s a free park. Right down from our home we found this really nice park that have swings, rocking horses, slides, rock climbing, monkey bars and so much more….even a pond with fish. The activities are endless and if you catch the community fun day at the park you can even get your face painted.

Quincy loves to visit the park when the weather warms up, sometimes we start our day early. It’s actually one of his favorite places to visit. He’s even tried new activities at the park, the other day when our weather hit 75 degrees I knew this was the perfect time to take him to the playground.

He was beyond excited for there was so much to do at the park! He played ball, he swung, climbed a few slides and scared me when he did the monkey bars. The monkey bars are new to this park and geared to much older children but it didn’t stop him from trying them…..and yes you better believe I had my eye on him at all times since he wanted to adventure on his own on the monkey bars and slides. No holding hands he would say …lol!

It’s so cute to see him playing and running around, it’s good exercise and great quality time that I love sharing with him and his siblings. We make so many fun family memories when we visit the park.

Now International Play Equipment Manufacturers Association (IPEMA) and the Voice of Play want to promote activities and ideas that get kids – and parents – outside.  What better way to do this than by celebrating the Springtime Play by getting outdoors!

Do it moms & dads, set the kids free from all those gadgets and visit your local park today to get those kids outdoors to play. It’s fun, memorable, exciting, active and a good way to meet another kids and families for fun park day!

Here is more about the “Voice of Play”: It’s an education and advocacy initiative of the non-profit membership association, IPEMA, formed to educate and promote the benefits of children’s free outdoor play and playgrounds. Through the Voice of Play website and social media properties, IPEMA highlights the scientifically proven physical, social, emotional and cognitive benefits of play.
