3 Signs You Should See an Eye Doctor ― Pun Intended

When is the last time you went to see an eye doctor in Orland Park? Ideally, you should get an eye exam at least once per year. Reality is quite different from this, however, and many people go to see an eye doctor much less frequently than that recommended minimum. The problem is that the more you put off an eye exam, the more you are putting your health and eyesight in jeopardy. In case you haven’t been to get an eye exam anytime recently and have been having eye problems, you should hurry up and see that eye doctor ― pun intended. Here are some of the most pertinent eye issues that warrant a visit to your optometrist.

1. Chronic Headaches

The deterioration of your eye health isn’t something that happens all at once. It takes time and sometimes can develop during many years before you even have a clue. However, one clear indicator that you are having eye problems abnormally frequent and intense headaches, especially if they occur when you wake up in the morning or from a long nap. If you are experiencing such headaches, then it is highly likely that the health of your eyesight is at risk. Be sure to schedule an appointment with an eye doctor as soon as you can so that you can get a detailed eye exam.

2. Your Eyes Are Painful

Eye fatigue does happen now and then, especially when your eyes have been overstimulated, such as when staring at a light source for too long. Eye pain is also something that happens commonly. Getting them does not automatically mean that your eye health is deteriorating. However, if it is especially intense and frequent, then it might indicate deeper issues with your eyes. If moving your eyes normally induces pain or your eyes are painful for extended periods that stretch out for days, and it has nothing to do with allergies or the lack of sleep, then it’s probably a deeper problem, and you should schedule an appointment with an eye doctor as soon as you can.

3. You Have Issues With Your Vision

Does your vision feel blurry? Do you have trouble focusing on things that are either far from or near to you? Do you tend to see tiny shadows that weren’t there before? Do you see frequent flashes of light that were never there before?

If you experience any of these symptoms, then there is a chance your eyes have some serious issues that require attention. In fact, in the case of shadows and light flashes, it could be a serious issue, such as a tear or hole in your retina or its full detachment from the eye altogether.

If you experience any of these symptoms, it is important that you see an eye doctor immediately. It just may save your eyesight and your life.
