Get started on the road to recovery today. The best way to withdrawal from alcohol is with quality drug treatment programs. According to the National Institute for Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, between 8 and 9 percent of adults in the United States have some form of problem with alcohol. That’s way too many no matter how you look at it.

If you’re ready to move forward with one of these drug treatment programs I would suggest righting down your goals and your journey as to where you would like to be in your life. Make a list of things that draw you to drinking, identify what triggers it and avoid them.

Here are a few tips I found to be very helpful in ways to deal with alcohol addiction.

  • Get rid of temptations. Remove all alcohol, barware, and other drinking reminders from your home and office.
  • Set your goals: Inform everyone friends, family members, and co-workers know that you’re trying to stop drinking. If they drink, ask them to support your recovery by not doing so in front of you.
  • Be upfront about your new limits. Make it clear that drinking will not be allowed in your home and that you may not be able to attend events where alcohol is being served.
  • Avoid bad influences. Distance yourself from people who don’t support your efforts to stop drinking or respect the limits you’ve set. This may mean giving up certain friends and social connections.
  • Learn from the past. Reflect on previous attempts to stop drinking. What worked? What didn’t? What can you do differently this time to avoid pitfalls?

Most of all get in that drug treatment program and do your best. Rehab programs can help you overcome alcohol withdrawal symptoms that can lead even the most well-intentioned person to relapse. They also provide support to help you recognize your triggers, empowering you to manage your alcohol consumption.

Talk with others in the program, share your feelings as to why you selected this road of drinking and every step you make mark it down as a completed goal…..you can do this!
