Seniors you don’t have to remain in the dark when it comes to technology? While some seniors find it difficult to commit to new devices, many are embracing smartphones and use them daily. Smartphones help seniors connect with those they love and the world around them. To further enhance the benefits, seniors should consider installing apps.

There are so many apps to choose from and many of them if not all have great benefits to helping seniors. No matter if you are and Android user or an iPhone user a smartphone is a useful tool that becomes even more beneficial with the right apps.

Seniors shouldn’t feel intimidated in exploring the different apps that are available to them. These apps can be used for entertainment, traveling, photography, finances and even to make life easier.

Recently we visited #Verizon55Plus Workshop and their we learned about many great apps that were recommended for seniors.

The following are the top apps I would recommend to be downloaded on every senior’s smartphone.

Google Maps: Navigate your world faster and easier with Google Maps. Over 220 countries and territories mapped and hundreds of millions of businesses and places on the map. Get real-time GPS navigation, traffic, and transit info, and explore local neighborhoods by knowing where to eat, drink and go – no matter what part of the world you’re in.

Charmin Sit or Squat: Charmin’s Sit or Squat (Android, iOS) is pretty much a good template for toilet finder apps everywhere. Using your smartphone’s location sensors to display nearby public restrooms either in list form, or on a map.

Lightroom: Adobe Lightroom for mobile is a free app that gives you a powerful, yet simple solution for capturing, editing and sharing your photos. And you can upgrade for premium features that give you precise control with seamless access across all your devices – mobile, desktop and web.

Mobile Passport: Mobile Passport enables U.S. citizens and Canadian visitors to save time during the entry process at most major U.S. airports and cruise ports!

Uber: is a ridesharing app for fast, reliable rides in minutes – day or night. There’s no need to park or wait for a taxi or bus. With Uber, you just tap to request a ride, and it’s easy to pay with credit card or cash (in selected cities only). … – Just open the app and tell us where you want to go.

Paypal: From everyday purchases to running a business—we’ve got an app for you. Receive and send money to PayPal users with the PayPal App. Manage payments with the PayPal Business App. Get paid wherever you sell with the PayPal Here App.

Having a smartphone provides seniors a way to stay in touch with family and friends and coordinate events with other seniors. Not only can they stay connected, but they can also stay up to date with the latest apps we mentioned above.

Plus, for a limited time those who are 55 and older can now save big on the #Verizon55Plus plan.

How much does the Get Go Unlimited plan for 55+ cost?

The cost of the Go Unlimited plan for 55+ varies depending on the number of phones on your account. Here’s how it compares in price to Go Unlimited:

Number of Phones
Go Unlimited plan for 55+
Go Unlimited
1 phone $60 monthly access $75 monthly access
2 phones $80 monthly access $130 monthly access

With the Go Unlimited plan for 55+, you can get all the benefits of Go Unlimited at a discounted rate, including unlimited talk, text and data per Verizon.

Don’t let your age keep you from getting the best smartphone plan for you and your spouse!

  • There are SO many app choices to go through, I get bored sometimes trying to find things I want, so I like it a lot when others do it for me. Thanks.

  • I use to be with Verizon a few years ago. I miss their service, to be honest. ATT is kind a bit faulty and doesn’t have the greatest customer service. From my experience, anyway.
