The First Three Things That You Should Do If You Are A Car Accident Victim!

Being in a car accident is such a horrific feeling. Things are so chaotic at the scene that no one is really thinking straight, your heart rate has just doubled and fear of who is injured has just kicked in. The scene can be extremely dangerous and many may be hurt bad! Its just an experience you never ever want to feel, the adrenaline in your body is high! Chances are you will come across or witness a car accident in your lifetime. Even though some accidents may be minor, some can also be life-threatening. There is so much to think about when you are a car accident victim, you can’t think of yourself you have to think of your passengers and the other drivers safety too!! You must be aware that certain danger may be lurking, gas, traffic, falling objects or electrical wires. Checking your surroundings would be a must to prevent more injuries.

Once you have accessed the scene for danger you still need to be cautious and most of all try to remain clam. If everyone can remain calm then things can move along more smoothly. Taking those few minutes to calm down will help you and the other driver collect yourself in acting more rational and helping to be more effective to those who may be injured. 1) Check to see if everyone is ok.

2) Call 911

3) Exchange insurance information.

  • I’ve been in 3 auto accidents, my hubby was in one and my daughter Gina was involved in a bad one just over 2 years ago. It’s very important to follow the steps above but it may help you in the long run to also get names and info of any witnesses, just in case. Their testimony could help your case. I know the guy who was sitting behind my daughter when she was hit by someone who ran a red light really helped tremendously, otherwise it would have been her word against the driver at fault.
