An Itinerary for a Roadtrip Across the USA

Going on a road trip across the United States is a great family activity that will be enjoyed by everyone. The trip covering the West Coast to the East Coast normally ranges from four to five days, but if you will be stopping along the way to enjoy the sights, you would need to prepare for a ten-day trip. To prepare for this long journey, you have to buy the supplies that you would need like gasoline, food, and water. Alternatively, you can stop along the gasoline stations, or eat at the best restaurants in each destination. Do not forget to bring card games or handheld consoles to make everyone stay active as you drive across the country. Here are the top destinations that you can visit while driving across the country.

DAY 1

On the first day of the trip, you will be traveling from Los Angeles, California to Las Vegas, Nevada. Sin City has some of the best entertainment centers in the world, and a lot of tourists are visiting the city in the middle of the desert because of their casinos. It is a five-hour drive, and along the way, there are some landmarks that you will be passing in. Abandoned mining towns will be the first thing that you will see as you drive across the desert. Eventually, you would have to pass by Zzyzx Road, which has a famed oasis known for its healing capabilities. In a few hours, you will reach Las Vegas, and there are a lot of accommodations to choose from. Enjoy the night seeing shows, eating out, or playing inside the casinos.

DAY 2

On the second day of the trip, you will be traveling from Las Vegas, Nevada to Fishlake National Forest in Utah. This leg of the trip concerns many drivers, and people are cautious about car accident Utah drivers dread when trying to drive on the road because of the high probability of meeting an accident.

Just be careful when traversing the highways of Utah and follow all the traffic rules, and you will be safe. This will be a four-hour drive, giving you a lot of time exploring the destinations along the way.

DAY 3

On the third day of the trip, you will be traveling from Richfield, Utah to Denver, Colorado. This will be a seven-hour long drive, but once you arrive at the destination, there will be a lot of activities to choose from. Colorado is known to a lot of tourists because of the variety of activities that can be done in multiple locations scattered across the state. The snowy peaks of the Colorado mountains have multiple ski resorts. You can also try visiting their biking trails, or climb their mountain tops.

DAY 4

During the fourth day of the trip, try to stay within Denver to enjoy the cityscape. One day is not enough, so drivers are usually stopping for two days in the city. The capital of Colorado boasts a lot of restaurants, parks, museums, and other places of interest that will make your stay worth it.

DAY 5

The fifth day of driving across the country would require you to travel from Denver, Colorado to Omaha, Nebraska. It will be a 7.5-hour drive, and along the way, you will see amazing landscapes and scenic towns.

DAY 6

On the sixth day of the trip, you would need to drive from Omaha, Nebraska to Iowa City, Iowa. The travel would be about four hours and enjoy their man-made amusement centers. The state hosts the largest indoor rainforest in the country, along with aquariums, deserts, and other places of interest.

DAY 7

The seventh day of the driving across the country will take you from Iowa City, Iowa to Gary, Indiana, which is only 25 miles from downtown Chicago. For digital nomads, this is a great place to stay in because of the serene location and high Internet connectivity.

DAY 8

A five-hour drive from Gary, Indiana will take you to Milan, Ohio. This town is a great place for outdoor enthusiasts, and there is a lot of activities to choose from.

DAY 9

During the ninth day of the journey, you would need to drive for 4.5 hours to reach the town of Lanse, Pennsylvania. This small town has a lot of amazing activities to engage in, and make sure that you will be getting a lot of rest to prepare for the final leg the next day.

DAY 10

You will be able to reach the city of New York after a 4.5-hour drive from Lanse, Pennsylvania. Enjoy the different feel when you are in New York. There are lots of restaurants and hotels to choose from. Do not miss Time Square, the Empire State Building, and the Statue of Liberty when visiting the Big Apple. Safe traveling!
