4 Reasons to Go Out Instead of Staying In
If you’re reading this, then the chances are good that you’re an in-doors type of person. Let’s be honest, going out for work and errands is not always a fun experience. Traveling by car means contending with heavy, relentless traffic. Locations you would normally like to go to are only opened seasonally. And then, there’s the issue of never having enough money to do things.
The arguments made for staying in, rather than going out, are many. However, there are many good reasons for why you need to go outside every now and then. Physical and mental health is a major factor to consider. Interacting with people over comment sections doesn’t quite exercise your social skills that much, either.
To help you get your butt in gear, this article will give you four arguments against and four answers for why going out is better than staying in.
“It’s easier to watch movies on the internet.”
Netflix, Hulu, and many other streamable media services has tons of movies to choose from. Industry insiders project it’s slowly starting to replace television and movie theaters, but with it goes the social aspect.
Attending a screening in a packed theater can elevate the movie going experience. Going with a group of friends opens up opportunities for conversation. The same can be said of concerts and live theatre.
“Bars & restaurants are expensive.”
Choosing the right form of nightlife depends on taste. Most people enjoy going out to eat at a classy restaurant while others kick back at a bar. Either way money is going to be an issue.
If you’ve already found an establishment that has great service, check if they have a loyalty membership program. You may be able to save more money with each visit. Search online for coupons and deals at places that you might be interested in.
“I don’t have the gear for a nature hike.”
When the great outdoors are brought up, you’re probably thinking bulky backpacks and bug spray. Exploring wilderness doesn’t have the mean strolling deep into bear country.
State parks have pre-made nature trails that are easy to navigate. Some workplaces may outdoor break areas where employees can get their miles in before sitting down to work. At least 15 to 30 minutes outdoors is enough to get plenty of fresh air and sunlight. You may even be able to boost creativity by letting your mind re-focus.
“There’s no reason to go out.”
Sometimes our main motivation for staying in simply because our jobs demand we go out. But, not every excursion has to be for a work related purpose.
Try coming up with rewarding activities you can easily do around your community. Maybe you wanted try Dole whip and the ice cream stand down the hill serves it, but it’s closing in three days. Better job down there now! You might have a friend or family member who’s sick, but needs to take care of their dog. Offer to take their dog for a walk.
