Ways to Cheat the Clock.

Growing old is a fact of life. Although some people tend to age better than others, there is no reason why you can’t use some of the following tips to cheat the clock and keep the hands of time from affecting your health and appearance so much.

Live Right

Don’t expect to keep your youthful appearance if you are not willing to live the way you need to. You’ll need to stay active and exercise to keep your body tuned up. For many people, old age often brings about the need to slow down because they may not feel as energetic as they used to. This is because as the body ages, their metabolism starts to slow down. If there are underlying health issues, their metabolism may already be sluggish. They may also be dealing with health issues that interfere with their mobility. If those concerns are also yours, there are ways you can make them easier to deal with.

Workout and keep your body moving and stay off the couch. Start running or walking so you can reduce your risk of heart disease. Join a fitness group or class so you’ll have the support, motivation, and companionship you’ll need to stick to it.

Eat Right
It’s been proven many times over that everything you put into your body affects it. If you want to enjoy good health and to retain your youthful appearance much longer, you’ll need to be more discriminating about what you eat. Start piling more fruits and vegetables onto your plate. Fresh produce is loaded with nutrients that your body needs and may not be receiving from any of the other foods you may be eating. Their low-calorie content can be a plus for anyone who wants to lose a little weight while they are chasing the fountain of youth.

Fruits and Vegetables Have Restorative Properties
Some fruits like blueberries are very high in antioxidants. They are a great snack for anyone who wants to give their memory a little boost while they are counteracting many of the affects that old age can bring, such as cellular damage, inflammation, and complexion issues.

Fight Muscle Mass Loss
As you get older, you’ll find that your body has more nutritional needs than it used to. For example, muscle mass often starts to decline once you hit the age of 40. Muscle mass loss increases the amount of fat that sticks around which can put you at risk for some serious health concerns the older you get. To prevent this from occurring, you’ll need to find ways to add more protein into your diet. Pay close attention to the kinds of protein you are eating.

Although most meats are good sources of protein, the wrong ones can cause health complications like digestive issues. Try to maintain a healthy balance of protein by consuming a good amount of animal-based and plant-based protein. Certain fish like salmon, halibut, and tuna and lean red meat are good sources of protein; so are peanuts, almonds, beans, and dairy products.

There are also plenty of healthy organic foods you can combine to create meals that are loaded with anti-aging properties. For example, Au Bon Broth manufactures a very tasty and popular broth that you can use to create soups that can help boost your body’s immunity to aging, sickness, germs. Combining it with other healthy and organic foods like lean meats, fruits, and vegetables can help to provide additional support for all of your body’s functions.

Get Rid of the Excess
It can be hard for you to make changes if you are not ready to part ways with the processed and unhealthy foods, junk, and unnecessary stress in your life. Make a conscious effort to regularly assess your lifestyle so you can do what is necessary to keep harmful foods, activities, items, and stress away.

Stay Positive
Life has its challenges and even when they get you down, you shouldn’t let them affect your moods and outlook on life. Fight stress and bad moods by eating right and living life the way you want. Avoid stressful situations and people and meditate to keep your sanity and peace.
You may not find the fountain of youth, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy its benefits. With the right improvements to your eating habits and living situation, you can retain your youthful looks and activity level for a long time.
