Pinterest Strategies for Business Owners.

For many people, Pinterest is a way to unwind after a long day. For businesses, though, it’s a leading marketing tool, especially if you’ve already invested in e commerce web design. Every photo, or pin, can include a link back to your web page. If the image inspires people to click on it, you can seriously increase your web traffic, which often results in more sales. Follow these tips for making the most out of Pinterest for your business.

1. Create a group Pinterest board. When you have other people pinning to your board, you increase its chances of going viral. The people you invite can pin to the board, and those pinners can invite other people as well. Additionally, your board will show up on their Pinterest profile, which will expand your audience.

2. Aside from products, you can also sell services on Pinterest. Pin infographics, inspiring quotes, and small, bite-sized tips. Invite other entrepreneurs to pin as well.

3. Whenever you create content for your blog, include at least one pin-able image. The more Pinterest users who visit your blog and pin your image, the more people will see it and, hopefully, click to visit your site.

4. Create boards that relate to the product or service you want to sell. For example, if you create one-of-a-kind jewelry, you should have a fashion board, too. Why? Your customers are interested in more than just jewelry! By playing to their interests, you’ll attract a wider audience.

5. Create a PinAlerts account, which will send you an e-mail every time someone pins directly from your website. Then you can engage with them online.

6. Don’t leave out personal interests! Even business owners have a life outside of work. You don’t have to add personal photos to your Pinterest account, but create boards that play to your personal side. Hobbies, places you’ve traveled, and gadgets you love make great board topics.

7. Don’t use “sell” messages. Asking someone to buy your product won’t work nearly as well as encouraging them to find out more or to browse your online shop. Engage with your customers by beginning a conversation, not just talking at them.

For most people, your audience included, Pinterest is all fun and games. For the serious businessperson or marketer, though, it’s one of the best free marketing tools out there.
