How In Home Health Care for Seniors Keeps Health Care Costs Down.

Home care is a great option for seniors who need assistance completing their daily activities. There are a number of benefits that can be reaped from using home care. Below are some of those benefits:

Contents

Convenience

Most family members feel uneasy about placing their loved one in an assisted living facility or nursing home. The vast majority of senior citizens would also like to stay in their own homes. This type of care allows seniors to get the assistance that they need without leaving their homes.

Less Stressful

A nursing home or hospital can be a very stressful environment for a senior. Not only is staying in one’s home more convenient, but studies have actually shown that people recover faster when they stay in their own homes. Stress can slow down the healing process.

Health Care

The job duties of a home care worker can vary, depending on the training that he or she has. However, there are some workers who have been trained to provide medical services, such as taking vital signs or administering medications. Certified nursing assistants, licensed practical nurses and registered nurses are examples of home care workers who can provide medical services. They can also take the patient to the doctor.

Affordable

Health care costs have been increasing drastically for the past few years. Many people cannot afford to put their loved one in a nursing home or assisted living facility. Allowing the patient to receive care at home is cheaper than placing him or her in a nursing home or assisted living facility. It is also less expensive than keeping the patient in the hospital.

The cost of long-term care at home can vary. However, most people pay anywhere from $20 to $50 an hour for a home health care worker. This means that if a person receives care eight hours out of the week, then his or her loved ones can expect to pay between $8,000 and $20,000 per year. That may seem like a lot of money, but it is important to remember that the average monthly fee for staying in a nursing home facility is $3,185. Additionally, many people are paying over $7,000 a month for their loved one to stay in a nursing home.

High Customer Satisfaction Rate

Home care is known for its very high satisfaction rate. There was a survey taken that involved 3,000 clients who were receiving care at home. The results of the study showed that 96 percent of the clients rated the services that they received as excellent or good. Ninety-four percent of the respondents stated the reliability of their services was good or excellent.

One of the many reasons that clients are satisfied with home care is because the workers really care about their work. Many people do not treat their work as a profession or job. They treat it as a calling.

Companionship

Senior citizens also need companionship. Many people get depressed because they do not have anyone to talk to or spend time them. Home care workers can give seniors the companionship that they need.
