Dealing with a breakup or even a divorce can be devastating. Getting married is one of the most important and happiest events in your life, but unfortunately, not all marriages last, and some may even result in divorce.

Below, we will discuss some of the things that you can do to your lab-created diamond ring after getting a divorce. You most likely would want to get rid of it, and we are telling you how.

Consider giving the ring back

If your spouse bought the wedding ring or gave it to you, then you can try to give it back to them. Some states may even require you to give your ring back to your ex, as it is often seen as a conditional gift. Giving the ring back is especially important if it was a family heirloom. The person who gave it to you might not exactly ask for it back, but it would be in your best interest to just give it back anyway.

Have it repurposed

If your ex would not take the getting back, then you would want to consider having it repurposed by a professional jeweler. Your ring most likely has a great value to it, and it would be a shame to just let it go. You can have it completely redesigned so you would not have to see it and have the memories come back to you. You can ask the jeweler to turn it into a pendant or even a charm for your bracelet.

Consider keeping it

If you and your ex parted ways but are still in good terms, then you can consider keeping the ring instead. If you have kids together, then you can keep the ring and pass it down to your kids when they are old enough to get married. You can also consider keeping it in your jewelry box or somewhere safe until you are ready to give it to your kid. Besides, it is not a crime to appreciate something so beautiful, especially if it has a lot of memories attached to it.

Sell it to a jeweler

If your ex would not accept it but you don’t want to see the ring anymore, then you might want to consider selling it to a jeweler. Of course, you might want to ask her ex for permission first, especially if they gave the ring to you. Once you have their go signal, then you can find a trustworthy jeweler to sell it to. Make sure to do your research and ask a couple of jewelers in your area so you can get a very good deal for your wedding ring.

Think twice before deciding on what you should do with your wedding ring. You cannot take it back once you have sold it or have it repurposed, so make sure to do your research first before acting on it. Your ring is very precious and should be treated with the utmost respect, even if you think that it doesn’t have the best memories attached to it.
