Boiler installation procedure

There are many steps involved in installing a new boiler. These processes vary depending on how complicated or simple the process is. If you need your boiler to be installed in a different place, such as a loft or garage, there are more steps.

No matter how complex the installation, there are three steps to every boiler installation.

  1. Remove the boiler
Before any heating engineer can install your new boiler, they must first remove the old one. Clearing the area around your boiler will make it easier for them and allow them easy access. Your boiler should be easily accessible from the attic via stairs or a safe walkway. The room should also be sufficiently lit. The heating engineer might need to remove any old pipes and radiators in order to install a new boiler.
  2. Installation of a new boiler
After the boiler and all pipework have been removed, the heating engineer will start the installation of the new boiler. This part can take up to an hour depending on the amount of work required and the complexity of the job.
  3. Tour of a new boiler product
After fitting your boiler and ensuring that it is properly installed, the heating engineer will give you a tour of the product. The tour will cover how to use the controls and what features the boiler offers. It also explains how to set up a schedule that dictates when the boiler will turn on or off. Ask questions and take notes about your boiler’s features while the heating engineer is present. This will allow you to use your heating system efficiently and effectively, as well as giving you the opportunity to ask questions and get expert advice.

After boiler installation

You should get a Building Regulations Compliance Certificate from the heating engineer after your boiler has been installed. Also, register your installation with the manufacturer to confirm the warranty.

This is usually required by most manufacturers within 30 days after installation.

Your boiler must be serviced by a Gas Safe registered engineer annually to keep it in good condition. They will inspect the boiler from the inside out, check the flue pipe, and verify that the gas pressure has been set correctly.

What are the requirements for installing a boiler?

You should not attempt to fit a boiler yourself. A qualified professional can safely and legally fit a boiler. This is often all you need to have a boiler installed. The heating engineer will often be able to source the boiler and necessary components.

You can save money by purchasing a boiler from your local heating contractor, but it will be more expensive than having the boiler installed by a Gas Safe registered heating technician.

Installation regulations for boilers

There are many building regulations to follow when installing a boiler. These regulations include where the boiler can be placed, where it can be located, what size gas pipe can be used, and whether the boiler is efficient enough. This list could go on.

There are many building regulations that must be followed when installing a boiler. It’s best to leave this to an experienced professional. As long as the heating engineer issues a Building Regulations Compliance Certificate, you will know that all the regulations were followed.

A Gas Safe registered heating engineer is the best way to make sure your boiler installation meets all building regulations. To ensure that you get the best deal, we recommend getting at least three quotes from heating engineers in your region.
