Elysium Health Changes the Game with the Basis Supplement
When considering the building blocks of life, the majority of us think about our cells – or a video from our 7th grade biology class. However, you look at it, it can be hard to connect our idea of cellular health with how we feel, or how we can try to be healthier.
That may be about to change. Elysium Health is attempting to change the way we look at our health by bringing a supplement to the market that’s clinically proven to increase our NAD+ levels. NAD+ is scientifically known as nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide and is found in every cell of the body; as we age, our NAD+ levels can decrease, affecting key cellular functions.
The market for dietary supplements is often a difficult one to navigate since it’s largely unregulated. Elysium Health is bringing transparency to the creation and supply of its NAD+ supplement, Basis, by bringing world-class scientists on board to complete the research behind the product and guide the future of a company dedicated to providing proactive health products to their customers. The company was established by Dr. Leonard Guarente, a researcher from MIT who is hoping to bring the supplement to the attention of people around the world.
Since 2014, the science behind Basis has been developed by some of the world’s most decorated scientists. This product is based on over two decades of prior research. Basis includes both nicotinamide riboside and pterostilbene, which work together to increase the production of NAD+ in the body.
The question, then, is, why do we need to keep producing NAD+ as we age? Scientists at Elysium Health explain that NAD+ plays a key role in many cellular functions. Elysium Health’s Basis is designed to aid in maintaining cellular health by increasing NAD+ levels, which can decrease as we age.
Markets are often flooded with supplements claiming they will assist in living healthier lives, but few have the expert backing of Elysium Health. Not only is Dr. Guarente a world leader in biology, he has also invited top scientists to join the Elysium Health Scientific Advisory Board to guide the company’s research. The inclusion of scientists in the everyday workings of Elysium Health isn’t the only legitimizing feature behind the supplement. In 2017, Basis was put through a clinical trial to test its safety and efficacy. The results, which indicated higher NAD+ levels in those who took the supplement for four weeks, were published in the international peer-reviewed journal npj: Aging and Mechanisms of Disease.
