AEOCKY RHEA-001 Dehumidifier Review: Powerful, Quiet & Energy Efficient

But you all know me by now. I don’t recommend products simply because they have a long list of features. I want to bring them into our home, use them the same way any family would, and see if they actually deliver on their promises.

Well Packaged Right Out of the Box

Before we even turned the AEOCKY RHEA 001 on, one of the first things that stood out to me was how well the unit was packaged. This is a nice size appliance, so I definitely want something like this protected properly while it’s being shipped. AEOCKY did a really good job with that.

Once we opened the box, the dehumidifier was securely surrounded by thick protective foam, wrapped in plastic, and held firmly in place with straps. Even the control panel and other areas of the unit were protected during shipping. The included drain hose was also packaged with the unit. Everything arrived secure and in good condition, with no damage that I could see.

I know packaging may not seem like the most exciting part of a product review, but when you’re having a larger appliance delivered to your home, it matters. Seeing how carefully the RHEA 001 was protected gave me a good first impression before we even started testing it.

We first put the AEOCKY RHEA 001 to work in our basement, where excess moisture had been an ongoing concern. Within just a couple of days, the damp smell was gone and the air felt noticeably drier and fresher. What really caught my attention was the amount of water collecting inside the tank. Seeing that water firsthand showed me that this machine was definitely pulling moisture from the air.

After initially testing it in the basement, I decided to move the AEOCKY into my office, where I also noticed some moisture settling in that room.

Moving this unit into my office actually allowed me to see how it would perform outside the basement in a room we use regularly. We started our testing in the basement because that was the area where we really wanted to see how quickly the AEOCKY RHEA 001 could begin pulling moisture out of the air.

I didn’t have to wait long.

Within just a couple of days, I could already feel a difference. The air felt much drier and fresher.

You know how you can sometimes walk into a damp basement and immediately notice that heavy, humid air? That’s exactly how our basement felt. After the AEOCKY had been running for a couple of days, that heaviness was noticeably reduced, and the entire space felt much more comfortable.

For me, the numbers weren’t the most important part. I could actually feel the difference in the room, and that mattered to us more than anything else.

I didn’t use a separate humidity meter to document exact before and after percentages, so I’m not going to give you numbers I didn’t personally record. What I can tell you from our hands on experience is that the basement felt drier, the odor disappeared, and the air felt fresher and much more comfortable after the unit had been running.

That Water Tank Can Fill Up Fast

One thing that really showed me just how much moisture the RHEA 001 was removing was the amount of water collecting in the tank. During particularly humid conditions, I was surprised by how quickly it could fill.

Seeing that much water collected really puts things into perspective. You don’t necessarily realize how much excess moisture may be in the air until you’re actually looking at the water the dehumidifier has collected.

AEOCKY rates the RHEA 001 for up to 80 pints of moisture removal per day under very hot and humid testing conditions. It’s important to understand that the dehumidification capacity isn’t the same as the size of the water tank. The unit can remove far more moisture over the course of a day than the tank itself can hold, which means the tank may need to be emptied more frequently during humid conditions.

For our testing, I used the collection tank and emptied it as needed. I actually think this is important for readers to know because you do not need to have the dehumidifier sitting beside a drain in order to use it.

If you want to place it in a bedroom, living area, home office, basement, laundry area, or another room where you don’t have access to a drain, you can simply use the collection tank the same way I did.

Two Ways to Handle the Collected Water

One thing I appreciate about the AEOCKY RHEA 001 is that you’re not limited to one drainage method.

I’ve been using the collection tank during our testing, so that’s the method I can personally speak to. The tank is easy to access, and seeing how much water collected helped me see just how much moisture the machine was actually pulling from our home.

The RHEA 001 also includes an option for continuous gravity drainage using the included drain hose. I haven’t personally used the drain hose because I’ve been using the water tank, so I’m not going to tell you how the hose performed from personal experience.

However, having that second option is convenient for anyone who plans to keep the dehumidifier in a basement, laundry room, utility area, or another location near an appropriate drain. With gravity drainage, the hose needs to run downward toward the drain without kinks or bends that could interfere with water flow.

If you’re using the unit in another room without access to a drain, simply use the tank. That’s exactly what I’ve been doing, and I like having the flexibility to move the machine without worrying about where a drain is located.

The Energy Efficiency Is So Important

Now, let’s talk about energy. Another thing I’ve been thinking about while reviewing the AEOCKY RHEA 001 is electricity usage. Let’s be honest, whenever you add another appliance that’s going to be running for hours at a time, you can’t help but wonder what it might do to your electric bill.

During the beginning of our testing, I let the RHEA 001 run almost 24 hours a day because I really wanted to get the moisture in our basement under control. Naturally, I’m curious to see whether running it for extended periods will make a noticeable difference in our electricity costs.

At this point, however, I haven’t received our next energy bill, so I can’t honestly tell you what impact, if any, the RHEA 001 has had on our monthly costs. I’d rather wait until I have the actual bill in front of me than make assumptions about something I haven’t been able to verify.

What I can share is that the RHEA 001 carries the ENERGY STAR Most Efficient 2025 designation. According to AEOCKY, the company designed the unit with energy efficiency in mind and promotes the potential for energy savings compared with less efficient dehumidifiers.

Of course, I’m not going to tell you exactly how much money you could save because every home is different. Electricity rates, humidity levels, room size, temperature, and how often you operate a dehumidifier can all affect energy usage and costs.

Once we’ve had more time with the RHEA 001 and receive our next energy bill, I’ll have a much better idea of what running it regularly means for our household. For now, I can only speak to what we’ve actually experienced with its dehumidifying performance, and I’ll leave the energy cost comparison until I have real numbers to back it up.

Simple Controls That Anyone Can Use

One thing I always appreciate is when a company doesn’t overcomplicate a product, and that’s exactly how I felt about the AEOCKY RHEA 001.

From the time we opened the box until we had it running only took a few minutes. The control panel is clean, the digital display is bright and easy to read, and I wasn’t standing there trying to figure out what every button did.

Sometimes companies add so many features that using the product becomes confusing. Thankfully, that wasn’t the case here.

I really liked the built in humidistat because once I selected the humidity level I wanted, the unit monitored the room and adjusted itself automatically. I wasn’t constantly checking settings or making adjustments throughout the day.

AEOCKY also includes several operating modes, including Auto Mode, Continuous Mode, Sleep Mode, adjustable humidity settings, timer controls, and a child lock. I found myself using the automatic settings most of the time because they simply worked.

Another feature I appreciated was the power off memory. If your power goes out during a storm or briefly flickers, the unit can remember its previous settings and resume operation once power has been restored. That’s a convenient feature when you’re allowing the machine to operate for extended periods.

Quiet Enough That We Forgot It Was Running

I’ll be honest, I expected a dehumidifier this size to make a lot more noise than it actually did.

Over the years we’ve owned several dehumidifiers, and some of them seemed louder than the television. You always knew they were running.

The AEOCKY RHEA 001 was a completely different experience.

Yes, you can hear air moving, but that’s to be expected. What surprised me was that it never became annoying.

While we had it running downstairs, we could watch television, talk, or simply relax without feeling like we had to compete with the dehumidifier.

AEOCKY lists the lowest fan setting at approximately 44 dB, but honestly, once again, I don’t review products based on numbers alone. I review them based on how they fit into everyday life.

For us, it was quiet enough that after a while we almost forgot it was running.

Considering the amount of airflow this machine produces, I think AEOCKY did a really nice job keeping the operating sound under control.

Not Just for the Basement

One thing I realized after using the AEOCKY RHEA 001 is that you definitely don’t have to limit it to basement use.

Our basement was simply where we chose to begin testing because that was the area of our home where excess moisture had been the most noticeable. After seeing how well the unit performed there, I moved it into another room in our home and continued using it.

This is where the design really started making sense to me. The built in wheels make it much easier to move from one area of the home to another, so you’re not committing to one permanent location.

If one area of your home feels more humid during a particular time of year, you can reposition the dehumidifier where you need it. And since I’ve been using the collection tank instead of the drain hose, moving it into another room didn’t require me to worry about having a nearby drain.

I also like that AEOCKY designed the RHEA 001 with cooler environments in mind. According to the company, advanced defrost sensors help the unit continue operating efficiently when temperatures are lower, which is certainly useful for basement environments.

But for me, the bigger takeaway is flexibility. This is a dehumidifier that can work in different areas of the home depending on where you need moisture control.

It Moves a Lot of Air

Another thing I noticed right away was the airflow. This unit moves a surprising amount of air throughout the room, which is exactly what you want from a large capacity dehumidifier.

The stronger the airflow, the more opportunity the machine has to pull moisture out of the surrounding air. Normally when you have a fan moving this much air, you also expect a lot more noise.

That really wasn’t the case here. AEOCKY attributes part of that to its Rotor Compressor Pro+ design, but whatever combination of engineering they’re using, I can honestly say the airflow impressed me much more than the sound level.

It simply did its job without becoming a distraction, and this mattered to me more than anything!

Easy Access to the Filter

Another small detail I noticed while using the AEOCKY RHEA 001 is how easy it is to access the filter. Since a dehumidifier is constantly pulling air through the unit, being able to get to the filter without making maintenance complicated is something I appreciate.

When I opened the filter area, I could easily see how everything was positioned and how simple it would be to access when needed. There weren’t a bunch of complicated pieces to remove just to get inside, which is always a plus for me.

This is especially important with an appliance that may be running for long periods of time. Keeping the filter area clean helps maintain proper airflow, and I like knowing that routine maintenance isn’t going to turn into a project every time I need to check it.

It’s one of those smaller design details you may not think much about when you’re first shopping for a dehumidifier, but after actually using one in your home, accessibility matters. I want something that performs well, but I also want something that’s practical to maintain over time.

Large Capacity Without Looking Industrial

I also like the overall appearance of the RHEA 001. Let’s face it, nobody buys a dehumidifier because it’s going to become the centerpiece of the room, but this one has a much cleaner, more modern design than many of the bulky units I’ve seen over the years.

The cabinet feels sturdy, the controls are nicely laid out, and the built in wheels make it much easier to move if you need to reposition it.

At around 31 pounds, it’s definitely not a tiny appliance, but considering what it’s capable of doing, I didn’t find it difficult to move around when needed.

That became even more noticeable when I moved the dehumidifier from our basement into another room. I didn’t feel like I was dealing with an appliance that had to stay permanently planted in one spot.

Overall, I thought AEOCKY did a nice job balancing performance with a design that doesn’t completely dominate the room.

Our Overall Experience

After spending several days using the AEOCKY RHEA 001 in our home, I can honestly say it has made a very positive first impression.

We began by using it in our basement, where the biggest thing I noticed was how quickly it changed the feel of the space. Within just a couple of days, the unwanted damp odor had disappeared, the air felt much drier, and the basement simply became a more comfortable place to spend time.

We’ve since moved the unit into another room and continued using it there, which has given me an even better appreciation for how versatile it can be around the home.

As someone who has children and grandchildren with allergies, having, drier, more comfortable air throughout our home is important. While a dehumidifier isn’t a cure for allergies, controlling excess moisture can help create a more comfortable home environment, and that’s something I wanted for our family.

I also appreciated that this wasn’t a product that required constant attention. Once I selected my settings, I could allow the machine to monitor the humidity and do what it was designed to do.

I’ve personally been using the water collection tank rather than the continuous drain hose. The tank gave me a very visible look at how much moisture was being removed, and I also like knowing that I can move the dehumidifier into another room without needing access to a drain.

For people who prefer a more permanent setup near an appropriate drain, the included continuous gravity drainage option is available as another way to manage collected water.

The noise level also deserves another mention because it’s something that genuinely surprised me. I expected a unit capable of handling a large area to be much louder than it actually was. Instead, it quietly went about doing its job while we watched television, talked, or went about our normal routine.

If I had to narrow it down, these were the features and experiences that stood out the most during our time with the AEOCKY RHEA 001:
