Upgrading Our Space with the R.W. Flame Electric Fireplace A Cozy and Modern Addition

I have always loved the look of a fireplace, but like many homes, we did not have one built in. I still wanted that cozy feel, especially in our media room where we spend a lot of time. That is what led me to try the R.W. Flame Electric Fireplace and I can honestly say it completely changed the space for us. Here is the before we added the new fireplace.

Let me start with installation because this is important. This is not a plug it in and go type of unit. It is meant to be inserted into the wall for that clean, built in look. I actually had an electrician come in and build out a space right below our TV so we could install it properly.

You will need a 120v outlet nearby, and in our case, we ran a separate circuit just to be safe. With all the equipment in our media room, I did not want to overload anything. That extra step gave me peace of mind, and everything has worked perfectly.

Once installed, it sits flush and looks like it was always meant to be there.

Design and size details that really matter

One thing I love about this newer model is how slim and practical it is.

Dimensions are 3.86 inches deep, 42 inches wide, and 18.11 inches high
The thickness is only 3.86 inches compared to older styles that were around 6 inches
The power cable and main power location have been redesigned which makes installation cleaner and more convenient

That slimmer profile really makes a difference when you are mounting it into the wall. It does not stick out or look bulky at all.

The look and customizable flame effects

This is where this fireplace really stands out in my opinion. The flame effects are bright, vibrant, and highly customizable. There are several color combination options between the base LED illumination of the crystals and the flame colors.

Adjust 5 flame speed settings
Control 5 brightness levels
Use automatic flame settings where the color and brightness shift

You can also run:

Just the flames
Just the crystals
Or both together

I personally like a more natural look, so I keep the flames a warm orange and the ember bed slightly blue, but you can go bold or modern depending on your mood.

At night, this thing looks absolutely beautiful and really adds that cozy vibe to the room.

Heat performance and energy use

Let’s talk about heat because I know that matters.

This unit offers two heating modes:

750W for energy saving
1500W for more warmth

It is rated for supplemental zone heating up to 400 square feet.

Now, our room is actually larger than that, but I still noticed a difference right away. It adds a nice steady warmth to the space. It is not an intense blast of heat like a traditional fireplace, but it is enough that I sometimes turn it off because the room starts to feel warmer than my thermostat setting.

The heat does not blow directly at you. Instead, it gently rises and spreads, and you can feel it about 2 to 3 feet in front of the unit.

Quiet operation and everyday comfort

Another thing I really appreciate is how quiet it is.

Even when the heat is on, the fan is very low noise. I can easily watch TV without turning the volume up. When the heat is off and you are just using the flame effect, it is completely silent.

Make sure you remove the tab in the remote. Once I did that, it worked perfectly.

The remote and touchscreen controls are both responsive and easy to use, though you will want to be within about 10 feet for the remote to work best.

Safety and overall comfort

Safety was a big deal for me, and this unit checks those boxes.

It is securely mounted and does not give off unsafe heat levels around the wall. After planning the install properly, I have had zero concerns using it.

Overall, I am really happy with this fireplace. It brings together style, functionality, and comfort in a way that just works. It gives you that cozy fireplace feel without needing a traditional setup, and the added warmth makes a noticeable difference.

The only thing that comes down to personal preference is the crystal ember bed. I think it looks sleek and modern, but if you prefer a more traditional log look, that is something to consider.

Other than that, it has been a perfect addition to our home. Between the slim design, customizable flame options, quiet performance, and reliable heat output, it really does feel like a true upgrade to our space.
