Whenever summertime rolls around, there are a number of things that you have to do to get ready. Depending on what your favorite activities and other methods of fun are, chances are you are going to need some new gear!

This is especially true if you are the type of person who likes to get out in nature and enjoy some time in the great outdoors. Whether you prefer the beach, the mountains, the woods, the desert, or any other kind of terrain, you may need a few of these accessories…

Coolers and Other Food and Beverage Storage

The first stop on our summer accessory guide is the refreshments. You will definitely need something to carry all of your food and drinks in. Additionally, you really want something that will keep cold things cold and hot things at the very least, warm. That’s why it’s best to pick up a minimum of two coolers, like a ShelterLogic metal cooler for beverages and the other for food and snacks.

Outdoor Furniture

This is a no-brainer if you are planning on going anywhere that doesn’t have built-in places to sit. If you are planning on camping, hiking, or even just taking a day trip to the beach or lake, you are going to need a comfortable place to sit and get up off of the ground.

There are so many options in this category it would be impossible to list them all. But just to give you some sense of direction, easy-to-fold, lightweight gear is usually the best option for these kinds of activities. Canopy and backpack chairs are a good place to start looking.

Umbrellas or Other Types of Shade

All the cold drinks and comfy outdoor seating will be of little consequence if the sun is beating down on the back of your neck all day long. While you might not have to worry about this as much in the woods or mountains, it will most certainly ruin a day by the water.

Beach umbrellas come in all shapes and sizes. And if you want something a little bit more all-encompassing, many of the outdoor furniture designers offer other shade and cover options. And of course, you can always do it the old fashioned way and just spread a tarp or some other large piece of fabric from one side to the other and sit under it.

Outdoor Cooking Equipment

This is something that anybody who plans on spending any kind of moderate to significant time outdoors needs. Eating meals out of bags and boxes might be fun for a short time, but folks who are serious about their outdoor adventures will want to be able to cook their own food.

There are also several choices when it comes to accessories as well. Some companies offer tabletop grills and cookers so people can prepare their meals without even leaving the dining area. Other options include propane-powered cookware, as well as electric and even some appliances that plug into your vehicle’s 9-volt battery.

Mosquito Candles or Torches

Even if you have tents and netting, it still won’t be enough to keep the bugs and insects away at night. A simple solution to this problem is to get a few high-quality citronella candles or tiki torches to keep them away. This should help you and your family or those in your group sleep much more comfortably.

Tents and Sleeping Gear

Speaking of sleep, you will also need a few of these accessories. You should start with a good sleeping bag and then find the right tent for you and anyone that might be sharing it.

Sunscreen, Bug Spray, and Other Minor Essentials

These are simple but non-negotiable essentials that anybody who is going outdoors even for a day needs. In addition to the items listed in the heading, you should also always carry a first aid kit, medicines and ointments, basic hygiene products, and anything else that you think you might need.
