Take Advantage of These Services As You’re Settling into Motherhood.
After nine months of waiting to meet your baby, the day that you can finally take them home is such a special moment. And while you will quickly settle into the swing of things, those first few weeks can pose some challenges. When you’re not getting much sleep and every waking hour is devoted to this precious new life, keeping on top of everything else can take a back seat. In order to stay happy, healthy and productive, here are just a few of the services you could be taking advantage of.
Hairdresser
As a new parent, you probably won’t get much time to spend on your appearance. But it’s still important to take care of yourself and feel good, and if you have lots of guests visiting you, chances are you’ll want to still look nice. Once a week you could go to a local salon and have your hair washed and blow-dried as a treat to yourself. It’s a great way to make just a little time for yourself, and chances are you’ll feel much more human and like ‘you’ again afterward. Eventually, your hair will get used to being washed less and will adjust to weekly or twice weekly washings without looking too limp or greasy. But if you live local to a hairdresser, this is a great service to take advantage of as a new mom.
Maid Service
When you bring your new baby home, your top priority will be looking after them. Being able to fit in things like housework too can be an impossible task, especially if your partner has had to return to work shortly after. To make things easier, you could consider a maid service. Having someone to come in each day or a few times a week gives you peace of mind that everything is kept clean, safe and under control while you are looking after the baby. Washing clothes and bedding, wiping down kitchen worktops, cleaning bathrooms and vacuuming the house are all things they could do that will save you an awful lot of time and hassle when you already have so much going on.
Healthy Takeout
Of course, you don’t want to be filling up on unhealthy foods when you’ve just had a baby. You need ingredients that will nourish your body to give you energy and keep your strength up. Especially if you’re breastfeeding! But with a newborn, you’re not going to have heaps of time to be preparing healthy homemade meals from scratch every day. If you find the number of a good takeout which offers healthy and nutritious food, you could take advantage of this while you establish a good routine. If friends and family offer to help by bringing you home cooked meals, this will be a huge bonus too. Another thing you could do is before your little one comes along, is batch cook a variety of different meals and put them in the freezer. That way they’re ready to go and just need heating up at mealtimes.
