October gets an early supernatural scare with Other Mommy, starring Jessica Chastain.
The movie follows a young girl named Bela who forms a relationship with a sinister entity inside her home. Making the situation even more disturbing, the mysterious presence looks uncannily like her own mother.
Chastain takes on the dual role of Bela’s mother and the frightening Other Mommy. Jay Duplass plays Bela’s father, while Arabella Olivia Clark portrays Bela.
The supporting cast includes Dichen Lachman, Arian Moayed, and Karen Allen.
The film is directed by Rob Savage and based on Josh Malerman’s bestselling novel Incidents Around the House. Horror filmmaker James Wan serves as a producer.
If you enjoy supernatural horror involving families, mysterious entities, and something frightening lurking inside an otherwise normal home, Other Mommy could be one to watch this October.

The horror thriller centers on a catastrophic infestation of venomous spiders inside an apartment building.
After police quarantine the building, manager Serena and the residents become trapped inside while the spiders continue multiplying.
Serena may be one of the residents’ best chances for survival because she knows the apartment complex so well. There is one big problem. She must also confront her own fear of spiders.
Matilda Lutz stars as Serena alongside Gregg Sulkin and Melina Matthews. Ángel Gómez Hernández directs the film.
Creature horror can be especially fun during Halloween season, and an apartment building filled with rapidly multiplying venomous spiders certainly sounds like nightmare material.

DC Studios is heading directly into horror territory with Clayface.
Tom Rhys Harries stars as Matt Hagen, a rising Hollywood actor whose life changes after he is horribly disfigured.
After being abandoned by the people around him, Matt undergoes an experimental treatment that appears to restore his former appearance. Unfortunately, the treatment comes with consequences that begin affecting much more than his physical appearance.
The movie follows his transformation into Clayface and his descent down a destructive path of revenge.
James Watkins directs the horror thriller. The cast also includes Naomi Ackie, David Dencik, Max Minghella, Eddie Marsan, Nancy Carroll, and Joshua James.
Clayface has always been one of the more visually unusual characters in Gotham’s collection of villains, making the character an interesting choice for a full horror treatment.

Arriving on October 30, just one day before Halloween, Stiletto brings a slasher story to theaters at exactly the right time of year.
The story follows Lyric one year after the brutal murder of her older sister.
Lyric sets out for revenge while also attempting to protect other dancers from the masked killer responsible for a wave of murders.
Samuel Gonzalez Jr. directs the film, with Gigi Gustin starring as Lyric. The cast also includes Charlotte McKinney, Colleen Camp, Meghan Carrasquillo, and Stephen Blackehart.
For moviegoers looking for a more traditional slasher experience immediately before Halloween, Stiletto gives horror fans another option for Halloween weekend.
October 2026 Is Looking Good for Horror Fans
Horror fans will not have to wait until Halloween night to find something new to watch this October.
Other Mommy starts the month with supernatural terror on October 9. Crawlers follows on October 16 with an apartment building full of deadly spiders. DC Studios takes a darker turn with Clayface on October 23, and Stiletto arrives just one day before Halloween on October 30.
That gives scary movie fans something new to look forward to throughout much of October.
