Fun Activities to Help Reduce TV and Gaming Time
There have been many studies that have claimed children and adults are now spending too much time in front of their TV’s and less time getting out and doing something active. While technology has dramatically helped people, it has also caused them to be less active and more technology obsessed. To try and help stop this trend, here are some great ideas to have fun without watching the TV or playing games on your computer consoles.
Outdoor Games
Not everywhere can have good weather all the time, but there are still plenty of opportunities to get outside and play some games. If you don’t have a lot of time, then why not get a basketball hoop and play in your backyard with your family? It means you are getting a good workout as well as having a good time. If you have a park nearby, then there are many outdoor games you can play, even if you don’t have any equipment. For example, you can play hide and seek, or a relay race with a stick as a baton.
Board Games or Puzzles
If the weather is particularly bad, then there are still ways you can have fun without sitting in front of a TV screen. One way is to all get-together and play some board games, especially those that have a high difficulty. These will help you all to use your brains, plus they are a good way for all the family to be together. For those with younger children, there are still some games you can all play together that will be more appropriate for their age. If you don’t want to play board games, then what about a puzzle, or an escape room at home? There are many types now available including 3D ones that you can all try to do together. You can even make it a race if you have puzzles with only a few pieces. You can see which of you can complete your puzzle first.
Activity Rooms and Play Parks
In the past few years, there has been an increase in play parks and activity rooms that the whole family can do together. Some of the play parks include trampoline parks that are indoor and have different sections for each age range as well as a mixed age area. There are also activity rooms like Escape Rooms that are designed to get a group of people working together to solve puzzles and escape the room before the time runs out. These are great for encouraging teamwork and using your brain to solve the puzzles. These types of activities can also be a good alternative for party venues instead of having the party at home.
With many health organizations now calling for people and children to get out more and use their minds and keep fit, there is more pressure on parents to help their kids be more active. With these ideas, you can help them achieve that while doing things as a family.
