Welcome to the new Acer Chromebook R 11, it’s one of the more affordable laptops around right now with a retail price of $279.99. Actually it’s a perfect laptop for any family or student if you ask me. Now it’s not the most powerful Chromebook because it only packs power of an Intel Celeron N3150 quad-core processor, so it’s a little slower than the regular Core processor that many of us know from Intel. The Chromebook R 11 also has a Chrome OS™ Operating System.
But one things for sure this is the first Chromebook I’ve seen that offers a touchscreen, and a turnaround hinge. What this means is you will be able use it as a laptop, or flip the screen around and use it like a tablet. The touchpad screen mode was very easy to use too, I just went to the browser, added my blog to search, and tapped the screen viola my blog appeared.
The Acer Chromebook R 11 has a Standard Memory of 2 GB, Memory Technology DDR3L SDRAM and a Flash Memory Capacity of 32 GB which is not bad.
It’s pretty cool to see how flexible the Acer Chromebook R 11 is, I mean to be able to have a 360 Dual-torque hinge is pretty cool. It turns with such smoothness and before you know it you’ll be in the tablet mode ready to use your touchscreen. Don’t worry the Chromebook R 11 is sturdy and wobble-free when you tap and scroll. I found when using the Chromebook R 11 in tablet mode there was no difference than any other tablet I’ve used, everything felt natural!
I like how the Chromebook R 11 offers its users two different modes, general computer and table use, it quiet appealing.
The Acer Chromebook R 11 has available to you one USB 3.0 port and another USB 2.0 port. There’s also an HDMI port and a headphone jack. You will be able to enjoy wireless data transfer rates of up to three times faster than those of 802.11n. Plus it’s true, the colors stay true no matter what angle you’re viewing from. Share what’s on your screen with friends and family. I was kind of shocked as to how crystal clear the colors were on this Chromebook R 11, it was like no matter where I positioned the Chromebook the colors were vibrant and very clear!
I found the keyboard to be comfortable however I noticed that certain tabs of the Chromebook R 11 keyboard were much different than your standard keyboard, like the cap key is now your shift key to make caps, your lock tab at right is your turn on and off key. I also like how easy the keypad appears when you’re in tablet mode. There are a few other keys I noticed but nothing real major.
Of course you will also noticed the keys are much smaller than your normal computer keys but again I had no problem using them.
As for the Acer Chromebook R 11 screen, it supports an 11.6-inch display and a resolution of 1366 x 768. I have not tried to watch any full HD videos just yet but I’m eagered to see how that function will work. Oh and don’t worry about battery because with the Lithium Ion (Li-Ion) 3220 mAh battery capacity run time will be 10hours!
Overall, I’m impressed with the Acer Chromebook R 11, I do think it will be a perfect computer for any family and again any student. I know it may not have many functions like all of the other standard computers but it will definitely work great for my youngest and all of her school projects! With the price point of $279.99 I think Acer did a great job in creating the Chromebook R 11!
