4 Ways to be the Best “You” in 2020 and Long After

With each passing year, we tend to give pause and consider all the ways and possibilities our lives can change as the calendar flips to January. Are you wondering how you can be the best “you” in the coming year and, perhaps, for the rest of your life? If so, you’re not alone.

Many people search for new ways to improve their lives in order to become the best person they can be, especially when the end of the year rolls around. Indeed, the calendar turn to the new year is a natural time of reflection. Whether you want to change your wardrobe, attitude, career or overall life goals, 2020 is a great time to get started.

Here are four ways to be the best you, now and always.

1. Strive to Become More Reliable

Are you occasionally, or even frequently, late for work, dates and other appointments? If so, you may need to reflect on what is keeping you from showing up on time. These days, life is action-packed for everyone, but that doesn’t mean it’s right or okay to show up late or not show up at all. Even if you feel stressed out and tired, it’s important to show up for the people in your life. It’s a sign of love and commitment to keep dates, no matter what is going on, outside of emergencies.

2. Set Off for an Adventure with Travel Plans

Traveling offers us the chance to learn more about the world outside of our regular sphere. Something as simple as a cross-country drive across America exposes you to new people, experiences and information. For instance, a trek across the U.S. will give you a glimpse into the creativity of our country’s countless chefs. You can also learn about the country’s monuments, parks, infrastructure and amazing people.

Additionally, you can take your travels anywhere, far beyond the U.S. Other countries and cultures can help us see new sides of ourselves in terms of our material advantages, spiritual challenges and creative possibilities. With all that said, be truly adventurous, so you can learn more about the world and your place in it.

3. Liven Up Your Fashion

Adding to your wardrobe for work, fitness, socializing and romance is a great way to work toward being the best you. Find the best pieces to suit your specific goals. If you want to take your career to new heights, search for the perfect suit. Conversely, when it’s time to re-energize your love life, tasteful and trendy lingerie works like a charm. Just a few new items in each facet of your life can create bold new sparks to let you be the best, confident you.

4. Skip the Resolutions and Set Goals

It may sound counterintuitive, but skip the resolutions this year and instead set goals. That’s because fewer than 25 percent of all people commit to their stated resolutions after the first 30 days of the year. Furthermore, only 8 percent actually accomplish those resolutions, making them seem more like glorified wishes. Goals are more actionable and attainable since they tend to be more concrete, such as improving work productivity, getting a new job or starting your novel.

The Best Version of Yourself Has Been Inside You All Along

Once people work toward goals to become a better version of themselves, they often realize those great qualities were inside them all along.

By setting goals, stepping out of your comfort zone, forcing yourself to become more reliable, and showing a greater confidence in life, you’ll soon realize you’re already doing great things but just need a boost to take things to the next level.
