United States dominates the landscape in film and music
The United States has long been viewed as the dominant force in the global entertainment stakes, particularly in the genres of film and music.
A recent study by Betway Insider has highlighted just how much influence the US has when it comes to producing talented actors and musicians.
One hundred of the top stars from ten different categories were assessed to discover which places make the most successful people.
The Academy Awards, Palme d’Or winners and the most-streamed artists on Spotify were amongst the categories featured in the study.
The data revealed that four US cities are in the top 10 list of where the world’s most recognizable stars were born, with New York at the top of the pile.
Philadelphia claimed fourth place in the standings, while Los Angeles and Chicago also bagged a place in the top 10.
As home to Hollywood, the US inevitably fares extremely well when assessing who are the world’s most recognizable Oscars stars.
New York racked up an impressive 14 Oscars winners including Cuba Gooding Jr, Burt Lancaster, Christopher Walker and George Burns.
Philadelphia, Los Angeles and Kansas City have also produced their fair share of Oscars winners, demonstrating the depth of acting talent across the US.
The US dominance of the movie industry is not limited to its own shores – a point evidenced by the country birthing a staggering 23 winners of the Palme d’Or award.
Widely viewed by movie buffs as the most important prize in filmmaking, the Palme d’Or is always fiercely contested at the annual Cannes Film Festival in France.
Recipients of the award include Clint Eastwood, Martin Scorsese, Michael Moore and Francis Ford Coppola, while brothers Joel and Ethan Coen have also got their names on the roll of honor.
The music industry is also packed with top US talent, with 60 of the top 100 most-streamed Spotify artists of all-time hailing from there.
New York was once again influential in this area, with the city producing eight artists who have made a massive splash on the popular streaming platform.
However, none of that group can hold a candle to Toronto-born rapper Drake, who is a long way clear at the top of the most-streamed artists list.
California can also lay claim to contributing massively to the prevalence of US music acts in the top 100, with the city of Los Angeles at the head of affairs.
Billie Eilish is on the fringes of the top 10 most-streamed artists, while Doja Cat is not too far adrift of breaking into the top 50.
Tyga, Kendrick Lamar, Frank Ocean, G-Eazy, Lauv and Olivia Rodrigo are other Californians who have been making waves on Spotify.
Santa Barbara-born Katy Perry is also in the top 100, neatly sandwiched between Kygo and Avicii in the all-time streaming rankings.
As one of the largest states in America, it is perhaps surprising to discover that Texas has only contributed three stars to Spotify’s top 100 – Beyonce, Selena Gomez and Travis Scott.
