“Navigating Long-Term Effects: My Journey After Fighting Five COVID Diagnosed Battles”

I can’t speak for others, but personally, I’ve battled COVID five times, and I can definitely say that my body hasn’t been the same since.

Many of you may or may not know that the COVID-19 pandemic has affected millions worldwide, with many experiencing various symptoms during and after infection. For some, the journey doesn’t end with recovery; instead, some of us face long-term effects that persist even after multiple battles with the virus. This post shares a personal journey of navigating these long-term effects after five COVID-19 diagnoses.

My first encounter with COVID-19 was back at the end of November 2019 when we didn’t really know what was happening. It was like a sudden storm that swept through my body. The initial symptoms were challenging, but I managed to overcome them with proper care and treatment. Little did I know that it was just the beginning of a long and arduous journey.

After recovering from my first bout of COVID-19, I believed I had put it all behind me. However, fate had other plans. I found myself facing the virus again and again, and yes again, with each subsequent infection leaving its mark on my body and mind.

The long-term effects of COVID-19 are diverse and unpredictable. From persistent fatigue and respiratory issues to cognitive fog and emotional challenges, each battle added layers to my journey of recovery. Simple tasks became monumental hurdles, and the fear of relapse loomed large.

Navigating these long-term effects required patience, resilience, and support. I had to adapt to a new normal, which I wasn’t ready to do, but I had no choice. Self-care and listening to my body took precedence. Seeking medical guidance became a routine as I worked closely with my excellent doctors to manage symptoms and monitor progress.

Despite the challenges, I found moments of hope and progress. Small victories, like regaining some of my energy back, noticing improvements in breathing, or having a small appetite became a beacon of light in an otherwise what I called challenging time in my life.

Through it all, I learned valuable lessons about resilience and the importance of self-care. Let me say that self-care is a must! I discovered the power of connecting with others who shared similar experiences, and I felt comforted knowing I had a good support system at home with my husband and kids.

My journey after five COVID-19 diagnosed battles is still an ongoing process, marked by specific health diagnoses that followed after having COVID-19. Still, I can say I see many small victories occurring, too.

It reminds us that this virus’s effects extend far beyond the acute phase of illness, impacting lives in profound ways. By sharing my story, I aim to raise awareness about the long-term effects of COVID-19 and offer support and solidarity to those on similar paths. Together, we can navigate these challenges and continue moving forward with hope and determination.

Are you one of the many individuals who continue to experience medical effects from COVID-19 to this day?

  • I’ve had Covid twice. The first time was very brutal. I knew I had it when my body aches went off the charts. I suffer with chronic pain and on my was it amplified ten fold. I was in my van waiting to be tested. I couldn’t even sit still bc my body hurt so bad. I would move around and even got out of my car a few times just to stand up. Thankfully, those bad body aches only lasted a short period of time. Then I got strep. And then I got horrible vertigo. I was down for two weeks. It was the sickest I ever felt in a very long time.

The second time was very mild and it was gone quickly.

I don’t know if I have long term effects bc I have rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, kidney disease, and other problems.

  • I am sorry you are struggling. I have heard the long term effects. I am not sure if I’ve ever had Covid. I remember getting really sick after it first was known about it but it was before testing. I remember feeling exhausting and just out of it for days.

I hope you continue to improve!
