And no matter how many deodorizers you use, the trash can still smell. That’s why I’m always looking for smarter, cleaner, and more eco-friendly ways to manage food waste.

Recently, I tested the AMZCHEF Electric Composter, and after using it daily, I can confidently say it completely transformed how I handle kitchen waste. Here’s my full, honest review.

How It Works: Turning Waste Into Pre-Compost in Just 4–7 Hours

unit

One of the biggest surprises for me was how fast this machine works.

The AMZCHEF Electric Composter uses advanced thermal technology and upgraded 3D grinding blades to break down food scraps quickly and efficiently. You can choose between two modes:

Mode S (4 hours) for small loads up to 500g

Mode L (7 hours) for larger loads up to 1.5kg

Once you select your mode, the machine:

Heats

Grinds

Dehydrates

Then rapidly cools

By the end of the cycle, your food waste is reduced by up to 90%, leaving behind a lightweight, dry material that’s either perfect for composting or mixing into garden soil.

units

Some cycles produced a dry, soil-like result, while others (the shorter “disposal cycle”) came out like chopped dried veggies. Either way, it’s odor-free, mess-free, and incredibly easy to handle.

It’s Odorless, Ultra-Quiet Operation — Perfect for Indoor Use

Let me be clear: I cannot tolerate smelly compost bins in the house.

But this machine stays completely odorless thanks to:

Strong activated carbon filters

A special turbine ventilation system

High-temperature drying that kills odor-causing bacteria

I can run the composter:

While cooking

Overnight

Or while the kids are asleep

…and it’s so quiet you barely notice it. For apartment living, small kitchens, or households sensitive to smells — this is a big win.

Self-Cleaning Cycle

After a few uses, I wanted to see how easy cleanup would be. The self-cleaning feature did not disappoint.

I added water, ran the cycle, and the machine:

Lifted stuck-on bits

Flushed the interior

Allowed everything to pour right out

That non-stick interior really makes a difference. Cleanup is quick, simple, and mess-free.

3. Disposal Cycle (4 Hours)

This shorter cycle produces a dry, chopped output — perfect for adding to a traditional compost bin.

I found this extremely helpful because:

My outdoor compost breaks down fast in the summer

But in the winter, it turns into a frozen block

Using the disposal cycle gives my outdoor compost a head start, reduces moisture, and prevents the winter “frozen lid” problem.

This Compact, Stylish Countertop Machine That Doesn’t Create Clutter Worked GREAT!

I’m a person who doesn’t like a crowded kitchen counter. If an appliance is going to sit out, it needs to be:

Useful

Compact

Clean looking

And not ugly

The AMZCHEF composter checks every box.

With its sleek, modern design, it fits right on my counter without taking up space or throwing off the look of my kitchen. The 4-liter capacity is impressive for such a compact machine — plenty of room to hold scraps from a full day of cooking.

The lid is sturdy and easy to lift, the interior bucket has a non-stick coating, and the whole unit feels well-made and thoughtfully designed.

It Performance Across Different Types of Waste

unit

This machine handled everything I threw at it:

Coffee grounds

Carrot and potato peels

Fruit scraps

Cooked vegetables

Bread

Leftover rice

Eggshells

Chicken skin

Small bones

Every time, the output was dry, odor-free, and greatly reduced in volume. I love how the compost looks like fine, brown oatmeal — easy to mix with soil without clumps or unpleasant textures.

  • Ok, this is definitely going on my Christmas list! I have two outdoor compost bins, but they take so long, even in our hot climate. We have a small counter bin, but it is just a place-holder until we take it outside. It would be great to have one that does to bulk of the composting before I take it outside!

Lisa, your review does a great job of breaking down how this composter reduces food waste so efficiently. I’m especially impressed by the 90% volume reduction in just a few hours. That said, your note about the ongoing filter maintenance is important, something people often overlook when buying these eco-gadgets.

we had a friend who has been doing that for a while now and he showed us the compost machine, but I thought they’d be like squishy afterwards so I wasn’t sold on buying one. i’m considering one now.
