Women’s Fashion Trends for 2018

Spring is on the horizon, and for a true fashionista that only means one thing – it’s time to start looking for the latest styles and trends for the upcoming warm weather. From at leisure wear and leggings to vibrant dresses and cute cropped fitted jeans, this year, you’ll find a lot of versatility in ethical luxury fashion trends.

 Plus Size Fashions Have Evolved

For the exceptionally curvy woman this spring proves to encourage change. Empowering women to embrace their curves, designers have thrown caution to the wind and begun creating stylish, figure-flattering fashions. Plus size sundresses are in this season and hold nothing back. From staple black to bold floral and plaid patterns, plus size women will have no trouble finding fashion staples that hug them in all the right places.

Athleisure Continues to Trend

Just a few years ago, activewear became more than just yoga pants and a tank that you throw on to hit the gym. Realizing that the everyday woman doesn’t want to compromise style for comfort, designers began testing the boundaries between cutting-edge technology and clothing to provide fitted, comfortable, and functional clothing not only great for running and lifting weights, but ideal for wearing every day.

The Wetlook is In

This year, the wetlook is all the rave. Seemingly pulled from the future, this techno-futuristic look of glossy fabrics and vinyl has been embraced by everyone from Balenciaga and Growing Pains to Misbhv and Ivy Park in 2018. You can find everything from a sleek dress to wetlook pullovers and running shorts to complete your spring fashion wardrobe.

Color Palettes Are Making a Shift

Say goodbye to colors like minimalist black, heather grey, pastels, and moody earth tones, because the color palette is making a serious shift this Spring. With warmer weather right around the corner you can expect to see big changes as primary colors takeover the fashion world.

Red, yellow, and blue go from colors associated with Fisher-Price to fashion with some important tweaks. Red becomes Givenchy’s shocking poppy-colored ruffles and Rejina Pyo’s brick-toned blouses. Blue is cornflower or royal. But if you really want to stand out this season, yellow is the color to wear. Thought of as 2018’s new neutral, yellow is a vibrant hue that you’ll find incorporated into some of today’s hottest designs.

This year’s runways will be filled with clothing styles like Marc Jacobs’ overwhelming canary-colored trench coats, Nina Ricci’s tawny gold frocks, and the delicate fluorescents scattered over Vivetta’s diaphanous and delightfully springy collection.

 Mixed Prints are Back

Miss wearing clothes with plaid, checkers, zigzags, and stripes? Spring 2018 fashion trends won’t disappoint. Making a serious comeback, you can find mixed print on everything from shorts and skirts to dresses and tops.

You’ll be amazed by fashions like Holly Fulton’s dizzying checkered blazers and Mira Mikati’s candy stripes. Yukihero Pro-Wrestling debuted turtle-printed boxers, and Amsterdam-based designer Liselore Frowijn offered Mexico-inspired kaleidoscopes of color.

In a nutshell, the 2018 Spring fashion trends are going against tradition. Moving away from meticulously Instagrammed beige and cream minimalism, while also rejecting antisocial streetwear drapery and vampy lingerie-as-outerwear vibes. The spring/summer ’18 wardrobe will be colorful without being childish; it will be fun without falling into cutesy tropes. Trends are swinging toward a version of women’s fashion that doesn’t have to choose between sophistication and personality.
