Life can be hard! It is generally stressful and overwhelming. Especially nowadays, we are bombarded with information, pressured to succeed and have general concerns about our jobs, family, or relationships. When stress seems to be in control of your life, it is essential to take a step back and call for a time-out. Hit that pause button and make sure to take some time only for yourself ito nourish your body and soul. If you don’t know how, here are some self-care tips that will help you keep your mind, soul, and body healthy and stress-free:

  1.    Self-compassion

Being too hard on yourself can be damaging to your psyche and overall mental health. It is enough that society puts you under loads of pressure, so there is no need to do it to yourself. Take some time to think about the little things you have accomplished and tell yourself ‘I love you.’ Self-love and self-care will take you places, while self-sabotage and self-loathing won’t yield any success – personally or professionally. If you are keen to self-criticize, you should try channeling the energy you put into those critiques towards complimenting yourself and having fun in the process of getting back on track. Your goals and success are waiting for you, so be patient, self-compassionate and do your best.

  1.    Food choices

Regardless of whether you are a vegetarian, vegan, or a meat-eater, we can all agree that eating can be a form of escapism and abuse. Every time you are under pressure or stress, your body is sending signals to your brain and sets the stress-hunger alarm off. This is the time you need to make a decision, and instead of going to a fast-food place, take some time to figure out a dish that will satisfy your mental and physical hunger too. Fruits, proteins, and even carbs and nuts can be helpful in lowering stress in challenging situations and a stress-induced lifestyle. Another thing; make sure to eat slowly and taste and enjoy the food you are eating. Don’t forget to  drink tons of water, here is a good comparison article about the best faucet water filters.

  1.    Clean your space

Clutter in your home and work-space equals to clutter in your mind. Being messy won’t help you get rid of stress at your home, but will instead generate more. Clutter affects your physical and emotional state, so make sure you start with the little things, like making your bed in the morning. Not only will you come home to a clean and tidy bed, but you will also get a sense of accomplishment. Try to increase your everyday-cleaning routine, and you will soon witness a complete change in the way you feel in your environment.

  1.    Reach out for help

Emotional stress can be a dangerous thing. In case you are dealing with a lot of pressure at work, college, or elsewhere, talk to someone about your stress factors or try some stress reducing activities. For example, if you have an important presentation at a new job, you can tune in to some relaxing alpha-wave sounds or sounds from nature on YouTube, or download apps that provide these sounds on-the-go. If you have an important essay to write, but are stressing the deadline, make sure to  buy an essay online, and save your precious time and money. An effective support system is crucial as well. Articulate your situation to your friends and family, hopefully, you will receive useful advice or some needed compassion.

  1.    Meditation

Meditation can be great for both your mental and physical health. When you meditate, you get to ‘pause’ and reflect for a while – be still and clean your mind and body from all the negative thoughts and emotions you have gathered throughout the day. Meditation will help you focus on your breathing, clear your mind, and boost your mood in just several minutes. Meditation can also help you find balance in a stressful everyday life and de-clutter your mind, body, and soul.

  1.    Stay active

The list of pros of staying active is endless. Physical activity is not only crucial for a stress-free life but also for mental and physical health. Being active for as much as 15 minutes a day can help you get rid of all your stress, stiffness, and mental chaos. A short walk, or an hour-long cardio workout can result in boosting your mood and stress-relief for the day. Needless to say, physical activity will also make your body look amazing. A healthy mind and body equal a healthy, happy, and content life. Going outside can be extremely beneficial, especially if you are heading out to a forest, a park, or going for a hike. Greenery is always a pleasant and helpful choice.

  1.    Get a good night’s sleep

Once you go to bed, leave your phone as far away from yourself as possible. Exposing yourself to a blue light in the evening can cause stress and leave you sleepless for the night. Not to mention the endless scrolling through social media takes away from the time you could be sleeping. It is also much harder to fall asleep after only a few minutes of blue light exposure. This is the number one cause of sleeplessness around the world. A good night’s sleep means you will be rested the next morning, which consequently leads to less stress, better concentration, and an overall good mood and happiness. So, at bedtime get rid of that phone and reward yourself with a good night’s rest. .
