Pamper Your Man This Winter

Unlike women that have been encouraged to pamper themselves from an early age, whether this is though a slumber party involving face masks, hair curling, and bizarre make-up attempts, or having a bath with cucumber on your eyes after a hard day at the office… men, on the other hand, have been conditioned against pampering themselves, as “real men” don’t use moisturizer and so on.

This archaic view is starting to shift at a rapid pace, with some companies even producing makeup for hetrosexual men; but there is still a reluctance for most men to immerse themselves in taking care of their skin, for example, and that’s where you can step in.

Almost all men, no matter how much they suggest otherwise, like to be pampered by their partner.  The feminine energy is a nurturing energy that is focused around nourishment and men like to be nurtured.  They might put up barriers and tell you otherwise, but deep down they have an emotional need to be taken care of – just like women – indeed, as humans we all long to feel important, valued and cherished.  A relationship is often the place we go to feel nurtured.  So, with the cold season fast approaching, let’s look at some ways to pamper your man this winter.

CLOTHING

Think back to your grandparents, and how it would always be the grandmother nagging your grandfather to make sure he had his gloves, did he have his scarf with him and so on… whilst he would often shrug this off as being tedious and overbearing, deep down, there’s a strong chance it made him feel valued and taken care of.

See, pampering isn’t limited to this new age of metrosexuality whereby men are encouraged to take care of their skin in a similar way to women… it can be as simple as providing loop shirt stays, so that when giving a presentation at work, his shirt will always be tucked in for a neat, clean, and professional appearance.  Similarly, when it comes to winter, make sure to keep him wrapped up by getting a special scarf, gloves, and a wooly hat – these accessories, coming from you, will remind him that he is pampered and taken care of each time he goes out into the cold.

SKIN CARE

You’ll want to be sure to protect your man’s skin against the elements this winter, and not just the elements outside.  It’s not just the cold weather that can affect skin, indeed, the main causes for damaged skin in winter is due to exposure to artificial heat sources (e.g. radiators) that dehydrate skin.  You’ll want to select a moisturizer which doesn’t contain petroleum based ingredients as these can dry out the skin; a natural moisturizer that includes products like organic aloe vera and bee propolis will keep your man’s skin soft and radiant.

Ultimately, winter is a time we all need to take extra care of our skin whether you’re a man or woman.  It might require some coaxing, but a weekly face mask is a great way to detoxify and replenish the skin.  It doesn’t have to be anything fancy.  Indeed, if you were wanting to tighten and tone the skin, simply applying egg white to the face for fifteen minutes will do the trick.

HAIR CARE

An Indian Head Massage is a wonderful treat that can help relieve stress and tension but also stimulate the cells responsible for healthy hair growth.  If preventing baldness is a concern, you might want to consider a caffeine-based shampoo, as caffeine is a natural stimulant which is known to stimulate hair follicle growth and increase peripheral blood flow to the scalp.  Using a natural shampoo containing aloe vera which nourishes the dermis layer of your scalp and penetrates deep into the hair follicle will provide the hair with optimum nutrition; as will nutritious oils such as organic coconut oil.

  • I think my husband would give me his crazy glare if I tried to give him skin care products. I do think he could benefit from them however. Winter really dries out his skin.

  • What a wonderful idea and a sweet way to show you care! I recently purchased some new clothes for my husband, but think I will surprise him with a beard grooming kit as well.
