How Getting Rid of Unwanted Hair with Lasers May Benefit You

Unwanted body hair is something that you may struggle with, especially as you get older and experience hormonal changes which can cause additional hair growth in unwanted areas. Common methods for getting rid of such hair include waxing and shaving, but both of those methods can eat up excessive amounts of time. You may also find that the hairs grow back quickly after such treatments. That’s why getting rid of unwanted hair with lasers may benefit you.

Laser Treatments Are Not as Uncomfortable as They Sound

Laser treatments do involve treating your skin with a combination of light and heat to get rid of the unwanted hair. You might think that sounds uncomfortable, but your technician will use numbing creams and cooling jets of air to keep your skin as comfortable as possible. Treatments like electrolysis and even waxing are typically more uncomfortable than laser hair removal. You can save money by purchasing at home laser/ipl hair removal equipment rather that going to the salon. This will save a lot more money, however you won’t have the same experience as the expert.

Laser Treatments Are Fast and Convenient

Another reason laser treatments can benefit you is that they are quick and convenient. If you choose to try being treated with laser hair removal equipment you will have the freedom to schedule your appointment whenever you wish because there is no major time investment, such as a hospital stay, involved. Also, the lasers can treat your body even if you have recently used shaving, waxing or other hair removal techniques. Laser procedures are also convenient because the hair can stay away for several weeks after treatment. Therefore, you will save a lot of the time you would otherwise spend at home trying to get rid of your unwanted body hair using old fashioned methods like shaving, especially since hairs grow back quickly after such home treatment methods.

Laser Hair Removal Appointments and After Effects

If you decide to have laser hair removal done then you will have to arrive at your appointment with skin free of lotions or other items which might react badly to the lasers causing burns. Examples of such items include perfumes, colognes, or body sprays of any kind. The technician will then take time to make sure you are as comfortable as possible by numbing your skin before using laser pulses to treat your unwanted body hairs. After your laser hair removal appointment is over your technician may send you home with some aftercare instructions and you may find that your skin is a little red or sensitive for a day or so, however severe or prolonged side effects, such as burns, are very rare.

Depending on Your Skin Type You Must be Careful About Having Laser Treatment

Having certain skin colors, types, or consistencies can make finding the right laser skincare clinic or specific laser machine a bit more difficult, but not impossible. If you have a problematic skin issue which you feel might impact your laser hair removal results talk to your clinician or dermatologist before dismissing the thought of laser treatment entirely. He or she may be able to advise you on a safe way to have the procedure for your skin type.

You Should Not Expect Miracles from Laser Skincare Procedures

Lasers do not magically zap away unwanted body hairs. Instead, they weaken the hair follicles, or roots. Over time and after repeated treatments the hairs will fall out and take longer and longer to regrow, but the effect is not instantaneous or always permanent. Therefore, you must go into laser hair removal with the expectation that you will need to return to the clinic and have more treatments in order to keep the unwanted hair away. Although, you may find that after a certain amount of time the hair that regrows becomes thinner or less noticeable to the point where you can use at-home techniques to maintain the results.

  • I don’t really have the need for this, but it is perfect for the ones that do. I always thought it was too expensive for laser hair removal. Maybe one day I could try it, but for now I will stick to my razor.
