EiQ ~ Building Fun and Memories

EiQ_tub_image_website_1024x1024

I’m a girl. So when I was young I played with dolls and had tea parties and played dress up. Yes, for a long time i was THAT stereotypical female! The hubby is a boy (duh). When he was young he played with building blocks and construction toys and cars and (of course) Star Wars. Now I have a daughter. And she likes dolls and dress up and My Little Pony, and I’m ok with that. But I also want her to experience some of the stuff the hubby got to play with, the hubby has her on a good starter program with building blocks and she has discovered Star Wars and now we have something else, the EiQ Engineering Kit from edventures.com.

The EiQ Engineering Kit is a construction toy with instructions for over 40 models to build out of the box plus whatever you can imagine. From a Biplane to sewing machine to antenna tower, the possibilities are pretty endless. It features interlocking pieces with channels and pegs, so you don’t need tools or nuts and bolts. The peg slides into a groove locking them together to create virtually any angle or shape. The first thing my daughter wanted to make was the “Eiffel Tower,” which was really the antenna tower. Since it doesn’t require tools she was actually able to help the hubby put it together. This is something she would not be able to help with on a certain other metal construction toy that requires nuts and bolts. The next one she wants to build is a fan, of all things, mostly because you can attach an actual motor (not included) to make it work, that would be a lot more effective than the hand crank method. Of course, now the hubby wants to get the motor. Ahh, my kids!

  • My Grandson love building things. He would definitely enjoy this! One time he was playing in his playroom and I was getting his lunch. I heard a banging in the room and went running. When I got into the room he sat proudly with my hammer from my craft room pointing at the wall where he had nailed his bear to the wall by its ear. He looks at me innocently and says “Look Papa, now I won’t lose him again!” How can you get mad?

  • I think that so many things today are fed to our kids that they don’t have to “think” or invent their own ideas. I love things like this. Where their imaginations can go wild.

  • My 2 grandkids would love to construct things with this EiQ Engineering Kit. My 2 grandkids are girls (sisters) who enjoy playing with their dolls AND with building toys such as this one, plus cars, trucks & trains, etc. They know that boys and girls can become whatever they want to be. Great toys like this nurture their creativity.
