Eco Nuts Organic Soap: Keeping Your Laundry Clean

Have you ever heard of Eco Nuts Organic Soap?  We see many people these days looking for an alternative for their laundry needs. Why not try Eco Nuts?  Possibly you are asking Eco Nuts? What are they?  After using them for over a month, I am able to explain to you just what they are just take the time below to see what they are all about.  You might even find these would be a practical gift for the family that has everything.

About Eco Nuts Organic Soap:

Eco Nuts® Soap Nuts  are a berry shell that naturally contains soap. They grow on the Sapindus mukorossi (Soap Berry) tree in the Himalayas.

The natural soap found in these berries is called saponin. Saponin is a natural cleaner that works as a surfactant, breaking the surface tension of the water to penetrate the fibers of your clothing, lifting stains from the fabric, and leaving dirt suspended in the water that is rinsed away.

Eco Nuts Soap Nuts are gentle on both clothes and skin, making them ideal for those with sensitive skin, eczema, allergies and psoriasis. Because they are so mild, they are perfect for baby clothes and even cloth diapers.  All-Natural Eco Nuts Soap Nuts are also great for septic and grey water systems. Unlike commercial soaps, that have artificial foaming agents, soap nuts do not produce lots of bubbles or foam. While commercial detergents and soaps have marketed heavily around that visual, foam simply is not an indicator of cleaning power.

Soap-Berries-on-TreeAll Soap Nuts by Eco Nuts are wild harvested, meaning they are gathered from wild trees grown without any kind of chemicals, fertilizers, or pesticides. Saponin actually tastes bad to insects, so no pesticides are needed, and the trees naturally love poor uncultivated soil. They are organically grown by mother earth and certified USDA Organic by Oregon Tilth.

Nut Allergy Safe!

Soap Nuts are actually a berry fruit related to the lychee and are not nuts at all. They are completely nut allergy safe and have been used successfully with no reactions by people with nut allergies. They earned the name “nuts” because of the way that they dry into hard shells resembling nuts, as opposed to squishy fruit. If you have heard of “Soap Berries” they are the same thing, and both terms are used interchangeably.

While Soap Nuts have been a terrific solution for many customers with skin allergies and other conditions, people who have many allergies or compromised immune systems should always take proper precautions and first wash one small item in a small container or sink OR do a patch test before washing an entire load in the washing machine.

My Experience

What I love about Eco Nuts is that I was a bit nervous when I decided to try them.  Reason being is I have somewhat sensitive skin.  So, there have been times when I try something new, and I itch for days. This was not the case with Eco Nuts.  I also wasn’t sure they were really working because there weren’t really any suds when I checked the water.  This is when I realized that it was because they didn’t overwhelm the clothes with soap that would be left in the fabric after the rinse cycle.

We were able to try both the soap nuts, as well as their liquid.  The soap nuts come with two little fabric type bags that hold your nuts while in the washing machine.  There were a few times that I also dried the little bag which reduced the amount of time I could use them.

So, when I did my sheets or our comforter, I used the liquid.  You do not have to use very much of the liquid. Three pumps for a small load and six pumps for a large load.   If you are good at remembering to take the little bag out, you will see they last much longer.  I found I could use the same bag of soap nuts for 10 or more washes.  At this point, my husband and I are the only ones I have to do laundry for, so you may find you have to change them sooner than that.

Wool Dryer Balls from Eco Nuts

Another item that Eco Nuts offers is their dry balls.  I had heard of these a few years ago but could never find any that seemed affordable.  When the wonderful representative offered for me to try theirs, I was beyond thrilled! I have always used dryer sheets or fabric softener, but it seemed like such a waste and sometimes I still had static cling.

Eco Nuts® Dryer Balls are a reusable, healthy, natural and chemical-free alternative to dryer sheets. Dryer Balls work by lifting and separating clothes allowing air to circulate, and can reduce drying time by 10-25%. They fluff and soften the laundry through gentle friction.

These wool Dryer Balls are an alternative to the plastic PVC dryer balls.  Place them in your dryer and as they tumble with your clothes, they will keep laundry soft and reduce the drying time. They last for years.  We recommend you start with 4 per dryer load and increase as needed.  You can also use our linen spray or an essential oil to scent the balls before drying to scent your laundry. You can purchase these as a box of four. Since they last for years they are a great investment.

How to Use:

Toss all four Eco Nuts® Wool Dryer Balls into your clothes dryer and let them tumble in every load with your laundry. For information on getting rid of static cling check out our blog post here: Laundry Science 101: Static Cling.

My Experience

I have found they are perfect for our dryer. I also love using them with our sheets.  Mine used to roll up  like a burrito and I would have to separate them mid-drying time and continue.  With these dryer balls, that is a thing of the past!  Please note I have only tried the three items that I spoke about.  They do offer so much more, so please stop by their website to see all that they offer. You will be truly surprised.
