Say no to screentime

How much of your life are you going to spend staring at a screen? And, yes, I realize a blogger isn’t the perfect person to deliver this advice. Irony aside, you can’t be truly happy in the digital age if you don’t develop a healthy balance between the online space and the meatspace. How many hours do you spend each day looking at a screen when you could be spending face-to-face time with an old friend, child, or family member?

Make sure you carve out a few hours each evening to put down the phone and turn off the TV.

Control your weight

Your weight affects your health in several different ways. The first is the effect that your weight has on your joints. Being overweight can take a serious toll on them. If you’re just 10 pounds overweight, the force on your knee as you take each step increases 30 to 60 pounds. Overweight women are four times more likely to get knee osteoarthritis than women of healthy weights. And, seeing as one in 25 working-age adults (18-64 year-olds) face work limitations because are arthritis in the United States, that’s something you want to avoid if you can. Plus, losing just 10% in body weight can help reduce blood pressure, cholesterol, and improve overall wellbeing.

Get on a boat

Not only is it fun, but being on a boat is actually great for your health too. Being on a boat usually means you’re out in the sun, and the sun provides Vitamin D. This essential vitamin promotes healthy bones, improves mood, and strengthens the immune system. Even just spending 15 minutes in the sun can boost your Vitamin D levels significantly. Being on a boat also gets you away from your screens, helps you spend time with your family, and even keeps you active. More than 87 million U.S. adults participate in recreational boating, and it’s easy to see why.

Visit urgent care instead of the emergency room

Another tip to help keep you healthy overall is to get regular medical checkups. While you can obviously visit your regular doctor, you can also visit an Urgent Care Center. Most Urgent Care’s offer services like vaccines, fracture care, STD testing, and more. Plus, nearly one in five urgent care centers, or 24.7%, have more than 450 patient visits per week, and they are getting amazing medical attention. If you are searching for supplements, skincare products, or even an excellent eating program, gundry md can help you achieve better health and improve the quality of your life.

Test your home for radon

Radon is a radioactive gas that has no color or odor. It is produced by the natural breakdown of biological substances like uranium. It’s found all over the United States, and it can get into your home. Why does this matter? According to the Surgeon General, radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the United States today, and nearly one in 15 U.S. homes is estimated to have radon levels at or above the EPA action level. Test your home for radon on a regular basis to make sure you and your family are safe from its harmful effects.

Cut back on sugar

It’s hard to limit your sugar intake when close to everything we eat has some amount of sugar in it, it’s incredibly important to your health to cut back as much as you can. The average person consumes about 2 teaspoons of added sugar every day. And according to the American Heart Association, the daily target should be no more than six level teaspoons and nine for men. Even just cutting out soft drinks to limit your sugar can help you lose weight and reduce your risk of heart disease, obesity, and diabetes.

Limit your sitting

Finally, the sedentary lifestyle is bad for your health. In fact, one study shows that reducing the average time you spend sitting down to less than three hours a day might increase your life expectancy by two years. Plus, limiting the time you spend watching tv to less than two hours a day can increase your life by 1.4 years overall. So, pick up a hobby that involved being outside or standing to help combat this issue.

Your life belongs to you, and you have a responsibility to take care of your body. Try these healthy tips so you can live a longer, healthier, and happier life.
