5 Must Follow Baby Care Tips During Spring

Your baby is the most important in your life. This is why you need to protect him or her. With each season, there are different things you should do to take care of your baby. While in the winter you should avoid getting him or her out when it is too cold. In the spring, there are also a few baby care tips you should know.

1.    Clothes for Spring

Although it started to get warmer and warmer, don’t get fooled by the sun. While for you it might be ideal to go out with just a T-shirt and jeans, your baby needs a bit more clothes to keep him or her warm. Layer on layer is the best strategy to keep the baby warm.

You don’t have to dress the baby with a big and heavy sweater. Just put a onesie with short sleeves. After that put a pair of long pants and a shirt. On top of the shirt you can put a hoodie or a sweatshirt. This way, when it is too hot outside you can take the hoodie off. Also, when it is too windy you can put the baby on a bunting to keep his or her whole body warm.

2.    Skin Care

Not only you need skin protection when getting out in the sun. You baby also need protection from the sun. While the rays of sun might not be as strong as they are during summer time, you should give your baby the protection necessary. There are special products for them, which only contain natural ingredients.

A sun protection cream or spray is also great for moisturizing your baby’s skin. Every time you take the baby for a walk in the park you should apply sunscreen that can protect the baby against UVB and UVA rays. Also, remember to reapply it after an hour.

3.    Spend more Time Outside

Your baby needs to spend more time outside, now that the weather is nicer. It is great for you and your baby to take longer walks, to enjoy the fresh air. Spending more time outside can help your baby have a higher level of Vitamin D. With the help of this vitamin, the calcium can be released in the bones. Also, it is a great time to let your baby walk in the grass and learn more about the world.

4.    Doctor Check-Up

It is best to schedule a check-up for your baby at the doctor’s office. Apart from the times when the baby is not feeling alright, you also need to go to the pediatrician with your kid from time to time to make sure that he or she is developing properly.

If you your baby did not receive the flu shot in the winter, now it’s a great time to do so. While the risk of flu is lower in the spring, you better be safe then sorry. Ask your doctor if the baby is old enough to receive the flu vaccine. This way, you don’t have to worry every time you go out with the baby that he or she might get the flu from another kid.

5.    Daylight Saving Time

During spring, the hour changes to gain more sun during the morning and the evening. Because of this fact, the sleeping schedule of your baby might be disrupted. There are a few things you can do to make sure the transition is as smooth as possible.

If you want to keep his or her schedule intact once we change to clock an hour ahead, you need to wake up him or her half an hour an hour earlier a week before the actual change. This way, it will be easier to adapt. Also, one great thing is that your baby might go to sleep earlier in order to recover the hour lost in the morning.

  • These are wonderful baby care tips for spring. One more I will add is that it is very important to use a hypoallergenic sunscreen on your baby as often as possible! Sunburn is very damaging to baby’s skin.

  • It is really important to have the correct coverage for babies when out in the sun. Sunscreen shouldn’t be used on babies until they are almost one year old, so they need lots of coverage.
